My family of four need transportation from Fort Lauderdale airport to the Westin Hotel in Fort Lauderdale beach. Be picked up at hotel and brought to cruise terminal and then be picked up from cruise terminal and brought back to airport. Would an Uber or Lyft be the way to go or hire a private transport company. Approximate Uber cost? Thanks

  • 2 weeks later...

We stayed at Conrad (just down the street from Westin) and the Concierge arranged a car service to pick us up at the airport when we arrived and drop us off at the hotel. Second service picked us up at hotel and tendered us to the cruise port.  Third service was from cruise port to airport.  We were 2 parties of 2 and the service sent a stretch SUV.  Cost was about $85 per service ($255 total for all three) and I was able to pre pay. Concierge did a great job setting this up and it was nice to have the ground transportation worry free.

You can go on Uber to get an approximation of the cost -- if you want to be more specific, wait for the day of the week, approx time of day you will be travelling and enter it then.

I think you will need an Uber XL...

A Westin hotel that has no hotel-airport shuttle (free).  Seems fishy.

Why fishy?   The hotel isn’t located in either the airport or port neighborhoods. It is on the beach.  I don’t know of any beach hotels (or Las Olas Blvd/downtown) that offer shuttles free or not.

So I decided to look it up on www.visitlauderdale.com (the official website formerly known as www.sunny.com) under places to stay you can filter by airport shuttle.  The Pelican Grand at the north end of the beach is the only one I recognized and the shuttle isn’t free.  Out of 48 hotels the overwhelming majority include airport, cruise port or both in their name.
