To you Bargain Spotters

Recommended Posts

I know Marella occasionally and spontaneously publish saver codes like cruise300 = “£300 off per bookings for dates between x and y”. I think the current code is US200 for £200 off USA cruises.

Each year I build a list of potential cruises and dither over making a decision, now I always love what I think is a good deal and when I see one of these codes it sort of helps me decide.

With P&O I usually get an email or a flyer in the post but with Marella if a spot a deal it happens just by chance.

So when any of you folk spot one of these codes, or if you spot what you think is a good deal could you let the rest of us know about it.

Thanks

I follow Marella on Facecloth and see offers that way at the mo theres the £300 off deal on not sure when it ends could do with knowing as we have a voucher for a cancelled cruise to use before the end of May and want to combine them but holding fire until DH can confirm some dates he can go.

A good idea, I will have monitor that group, the only offer I can see on the Marella site at the moment is the US200 deal.

I agree with other posters here that Marella are becoming very expensive in comparison with the likes of P&O or MSC particularly on the Caribbean cruise and TA itineraries.

I have my eye on some TA, Caribbean and Greek/Adriatic cruises and if a Marella code popped up it would make my choice of cruise line a bit easier.

We booked the Adriatic for September a couple of weeks ago when there was an offer for £300 off. Checked recently and the cost of the cruise is around the same as we paid, even though the £300 has finished. I'm sure they adjust the prices to make it look as though you have a bargain . Also don't just check the price showing as the cabin supplements change too, you need to do a dummy booking to check the end price

As Dronnygirl has posted the £300 off deal finished a couple of weeks ago,it doesn’t really matter because the cruise price does usually drop after the deal ends.

Sunshine and Jazz 17 night Repo cruise (Bridgetown to Port Canaveral) is the best Marella offer I've seen lately. £1523 for a deck 2/3 Inside cabin, plus £250 code per couple, making it £1400ish

Wow, I'm envious! Fabulous itinerary.  Check out the casino in New Orleans (even if you don't gamble it's worth popping in to look, it's huge) and the aquarium too. And take a trip on Natchez river boat, great atmosphere and don't miss Bourbon Street.

Enjoy!

Exactly this

Saying that we bagged a bargain last October but only because it was virtually a last minute booking with flights from Scotland which is highly unusual for a late booking

We booked it on the Wednesday and flew out on the Friday

Wow. I bet that was a bit of a rush to get packed.

It certainly was Tizzy-Jo and not just the packing.Among other things we also had to organise and book covid tests as that was still a requirement for the cruise at that time

First time we had done a booking at such short notice and would do it again

No need to be envious, I haven't booked it, just browsing. It clashes with current plans to take caravan to Spain for 6 weeks, and USA travel insurance for me and wife would probably double the cruise cost!

Does travel insurance get more expensive when you reach certain birthdays?

The reason I ask is I got one year cover including the carribean for approximately £300 back in 2019 when I was 63 years old, I applied for the same again last September and was quoted £2,500 to cover the same destinations. Just after reaching state pension age (66)

These quotes are to cover existing medical conditions.

Hi PC.hope you and mrs PC are keeping well.

Mother in law is doing a saga cruise, two weeks western Mediterranean and it has cost £850 insurance for the single trip. She is 85 years old.🤦🏻‍♂️

All ok here thanks BJ hope you and yours are the same, nice to hear your M in L is still cruising, at just a little older than us🙄. From what I recall we last paid £550 annual World wide for both of us through our bank.

Stay safe.

All good here PC😉

M in law had Lloyds travel insurance linked to her premier account but they don’t insure over eighties. This will be her first trip in five years because of the price of travel insurance.🤷🏻‍♂️

On the topic of Insurance and very high prices!

Wouldn't it be good if you paid a premium for your Cruise/Holiday and fingers crossed nothing happened while away, you get 80% refunded for not using it. Would make sense. But afraid, the greedy buggers who set out to make obscene profits for themselves and shareholders. just making profit for being "old"

Just had a quick look and our cruise has now come down in price by £200, although only about 3 balcony cabins left so at least we got our choice. I also just noticed that they are now charging £55 to choose your cabin!

Better stop looking now!
