On Board Credits refunded after sailing?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I spoke with Royal but im alittle leary of what they said. I have the royal CC so i got the bonus 25k pts which is 250$ and then i have $200 in random OBC from my travel agent.  So im entering my cruise with $450 in OBC. The agent said that any OBC that is not used on the ship will be credited to your CC after the sailing? can anyone shed light on this/confirm? on the NCLs i have taken usually the credits are "nonrefundable" aka use or or lose it. Im sure i can find places to used 450$ bux but just was wondering if there is leftover. Thanks all

Yes if they are refundable on board credit which from a travel agent is usually refundable.

On the ship you can check the type via app or TV billing area.

It'll refund to your credit card on file after cruise.

When they draw down your onboard account vs OBC they always use OBN (Non-refundable OBC) first and OBR (refundable) only after the OBN has been totally used.  The credit card points are always OBR and most, if not all, from your TA should be as well.   I suggest that you check with your TA to make sure that the OBC they are giving you is all refundable (if part of it was for booking in a group it will not be).

Any balance in refundable OBCs I usually convert to cash at GS on the last day of cruise as I know that I won't be using it.

Royal’s credit card OBC goes back on the card. I speak from personal experience.

I have had sums of .26 cents....47 cents....85 cents refunded back to my card,  though it was supposed to be "non-refundable".   Very odd.

Slot machine cash out.

Say for example I have 106.26  non-refundable OBC left, going towards the end of the cruise, knowing I won't use it by then.

I punch in 106.00 on the slot machine, play with the 6.00, and cash out if it gets down to the 100.00.  The .26...is "money left on the table".  😉

I can understand fractional dollar amounts returned as a statement credit.  What about whole dollar amounts of unused On Board Credit derived from Credit Card rewards redemption?

I'm not sure if "cash accounts" are still an option but we'd get our OBC refunded to us in cash as we didn't keep a credit card on our account. Are cash accounts still doable?

The slot machine cash out is a good option as well.

It sure is! They have penny slots ya know... or at least take one spin on a quarter slot? 🤣

If we ever cross paths again, I'll trade you a banana for your leftover spare change. 😁

LOL!!   Some people leave little plastic ducks around the ship...we put small change from the casino in odd places.  😄

Hmmm...think I will leave a couple of pennies near the bananas...but need to find the ketchup location to find them first.  🤣
