What is the suite deck like on Wonder?

Curious who has experienced the suite sun deck on Wonder of the Seas and if they liked it. Is this on other ships? I see it will be on the upcoming Icon of the Seas.

Wonder’s suite sun deck faces aft and is above the sports deck, so right now it is extremely noisy with flow rider and basketball courts having competing loudspeaker sound tracks. The layout is much larger than on the other oasis class ships, and if it weren’t for the incessant noise it would be a great venue.

Great having the sun deck right next to your cabin (if you’re on 18th) and the bar and seating is wonderful. But definite soot problems from the stacks and the noise is crazy. The easy listening from the suite deck competing with the club music from below and all the sports activities, really not a relaxing spot. Such a shame as the suite lounge and Coastal Kitchen are excellent and very beautiful.

It's being discussed here...

Yes, other Oasis class ships have a suite sun deck but it's not part of a suite neighborhood like on Wonder (i.e. all the suite stuff in the same area).

It really is shame about the soot problem on the suite sun deck on Wonder.   Ideally that location was set up so nice as to be so much more convenient to the suites on 17 and 18...instead of trekking all the way forward.

That's literally what made my FIL book this cruise. If he's not happy, I'm going to spend even more time elsewhere... which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

They are looking forward to hardly ever leaving the suite area (suite deck, most meals in CK, etc.). As you know, I have nothing against CK, enjoyed it on Harmony, but I need more food than that and I don't do sun. If there's shade I'll hang out on the suite deck for a little while and use a couple D vouchers but I have other places to be (like WJ, El Loco Fresh, Park Cafe, Playmakers, etc.). And my wife and I do fit the occasional activity like trivia in between my stuffing my face. 🤣

Very helpful. I don't think it will be the same on Icon with the noise issues. The suite sun deck is forward on decks 18 and 19 on Icon, and the sports deck is on 17 and is aft, so that aspect, noise from the sports deck shouldn't be a concern since I see on Wonder the suite decks are 17 and 18 and overlook the sports court down on 16. As for the soot, I know the Icon ships will use liquified natural gas, and will be the first Royal ship to do so. There are significantly fewer particles released from LNG, according to this research study: https://pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.1021/acs.est.5b02678

Doesn't resolve the problem for Wonder of the Seas, but looks like future ships using LNG instead of marine fuel oils will no longer have the soot issue since it burns more cleanly with fewer and smaller particles released. Better for the environment and our clothing.

At least you can get to this one by elevator.

Seems like a big improvement but doesn’t match celebrity edge retreat or MSc yacht club.

Yes, MSC definitely got it right! You really don't have to leave the Yacht Club area unless going on a tour or departing the ship, both with a Butler escort.  Enjoyed a wonderful 20N cruise experience on our Miami-Brazil repositioning sailing!

Can’t wait to sail MSc yacht club again, butler also escorted us to shows in main show with reserved seats . Also great pizza 😁, and great private island with fantastic lunch including lobster rolls.
