Celebrity Apex going to the Caribbean

VERY vague question.

cons: the sunset bar is the worst of any Celebrity ship. Too small.

pros: everything else!

We love this ship and will be on her again in 6 short weeks!

Give us more details and we can help you. Are you in the retreat? What do you like to do on cruises.  My experience may be completely different than yours and influence what we think is great about this ship.

I agree with @Sox Fan Cruiser Give us more information. Which cruise lines - and which cabin types - have you preferred in the past? Which cabin class have you booked on Apex? For example, will you be in an Infinite Veranda, or a Sunset Veranda? Will you be in Aqua or Suite class cabins? I sailed on Apex for 14 nights in December, and I had a great time. She’s a beautiful ship and she has a wonderful crew (but I’ve encountered a wonderful crew on every Celebrity ship). I can’t wait to board her again for 21 nights this summer.

I recently convinced one of my brothers who has sailed A LOT on Carnival and some on Royal, to come on a cruise with me on the Apex. We stayed in Concierge class IV. He loved the ship and convinced another brother, (who firmly states that he has never been on a cruise, never ever wants to go on a cruise, don't even ask) to book a cruise on the Apex. Of course I am going along with yet another brother.

What did the first brother love?

  • The service. The crew were like nothing he had ever experienced before.
  • The food. He loved the concept of the 4 main dining rooms. We also ate in Fine Cuts the last night and he thought to quality of food rivaled the best restaurants on land. His wife appreciated the vegetarian menus.
  • The overall beauty of the ship and all the artwork.
  • The Infinite veranda concept. He thought it made the room seem bigger and and appreciated the "air conditioned" balcony.
  • The passengers. He found them classier and usually more polite then he experienced on other lines.

What were the drawbacks?

  • Spoiled him for other ships.
  • But he continues to sail other lines when he takes his kids with him.
  • Generally, the entertainment was "meh."
  • The casino was stingy.

Hope that helps.

The 8 of us have never cruised on a Celebrity ship, and if you have been on this ship over the past year, would you give me your pros/cons on this ship.

We did the Western Caribbean on the Apex in March. First time on a E class ship. We really like the ship, entertainment, walking track, food and our DPV stateroom.

Just back from the Apex.

Pros: Great views from the deluxe Oceanview room, entertainment, plenty of outdoor space, variety at buffet for breakfast, good food @ MDR, can pick which one you like, friendly staff, and ship didn't seem really crowded.

Cons: Unless you are in retreat, no view from the bow of the ship, chair hogs at pools, staff would pull stuff away if mentioned, smell of smoke near the pool bar, no clothesline in shower for swimwear to dry.

Unless your in the gym or the thermal suites. Great aft views from the Sunset bar, Edan bar if your on the ramp and the Edan restaurant.

Thank you all for your input on my question. As for a special suite, we generally do the balcony, and want to do the Caribbean. I will definitely take what you have posted so far about this ship in mind, before choseing which ship we will be doing next year.

Make sure you research Infinite Verandas vs balconies. You’ll want to know the difference in order to choose the right cabin or perhaps even choose a different ship.

Good to know a fellow CCer enjoyed the DPV category. We are trying it out in November!

We've got the same floor and stateroom (7118) booked for a future cruise on the Edge. We had no complaints concerning the DPV stateroom or the balcony.
