Just got the top3 numbers from the Loyalty Manager, she said she wanted to wait for final counts of the tiers as there were passengers leaving and coming on, but I see those numbers were posted already.

#1 1241 days, #2 813 days and #3 778 days.

Top40 cutoff is 383 days which is on the higher side for an Alaska cruise. I have been on Alaska sailings where the number was below 200.

Having a cocktail party instead of luncheon on evening of Ketchikan port stop at 7pm in Adagio lounge.

Friends on the current Emerald sailing, reported ‘Blue’ princess tote bags are back/being given?

Thanks for the breakdown. I asked her on Day 2 and she had no clue which I found odd. She said I would have made it on the last cruise but didn't know about this one. I obviously didn't make this cruise and it is fine as I am not thrilled with a cocktail party. They really should do a lunch.

I sort of guessed when Princess offered last minute pricing and free cruises with casino offers that I would not make the cut.

I hope you are able to make the party and enjoy it!

Hey Coral, when you first got on the crown, an the first day at sea, did you hear any announcements, that rachel cartwright would talk on, about going up the inside passage, an see if there were any whales to be seen, an what area towards the front of the ship to watch from? Inquiring minds would like to know. Thanks.

Hi Coral.  I believe we cruised with you back in 2018 on a Midnight Sun cruise on the Sapphire back in 2018.

Thanks for all the great information.  We are going on the Crown in July and have found many great ideas in your posts.

Yes Norway!!! Loved that cruise! 🙂

Yes - Rachel did a great job of letting people know when to expect whales such as right when entering Yukutat Bay (day of Hubbard Glacier), when entering Skagway and leaving, etc.... She is fabulous. I have yet to see her on deck to speak to her one on one. Hopefully tomorrow.

Today is Juneau and 75 degrees!

I ventured into town and picked up a whale watching excursion cheap. Whale watching was just "ok". I would stick with the known companies on the Alaska board. We did see plenty of whales but they were pretty lazy today. Nothing like in Hoonah. I think everyone onboard - this was their first time and they were thrilled with what they saw.

I then walked through town.

Libby Riddles will be on the ship tonight.

I know its a long ways off, but I hope rachel will be on the crown in Sept. Have enjoyed reading your posts & lookin at pictures. Yesterday, when you went to Car Cross, did you go to the desert? When I was up there 6 yrs ago, also saw Emerald Lake, its beautiful. Forgot to ask, if you ate at the Sourdough Bakery there in Car Cross?

@Coral, What was the name of the whale watching company in Juneau that you used?  Just curious as one of my Alaska trips is in June (we booked this late) and our favorite whale watching vendor (Jayleen's Alaska) was already booked so we decided to go with a company that someone had mentioned on CC.

We passed by the desert - they did not let us out of the van. I had stopped previously. I didn't take a picture through the windows.

I did not eat at the Sourdough Bakery in Carcross. I completely forgot about it. A lot of people got ice cream as it was warm.

Could you find out how long Rachel will be with the Crown this season?  I board at the end of June, fingers crossed that she'll still be on.

thanks

Yes - I will try. Today is a sea day. She had original said "a few cruises". I believe she has a talk today so I will try to catch her.

I originally saw that she would be on my sailing by looking at my journey activities. I don't remember when that showed up on the app.

I was trying to figure this out. I found a PR which says she will be on Cunard June 8th.

She told us she would be on for a few voyages.

Regardless - I am glad I had her on my voyage and will try to find her today to ask to confirm exact date. It appears she will be spending the summer on Cunard. Lucky Cunard passengers.

Those on the Crown May 23rd should be able to look at their Princess app to see who their naturalist is under JourneyView. We had 2 naturalists (plus additional speakers) on this sailing.

I seem to have missed this - in Skagway, Ryan Redington, winner of the 2023 Iditarod was on the ship that evening to speak. It was mentioned before Libby spoke last night.

A quick search https://www.wausaudailyherald.com/story/news/local/2023/03/21/iditarod-2023-champion-five-other-mushers-have-wisconsin-ties/70017526007/#

Says this:

Ryan Redington

The winner of the race was Ryan Redington, 40, who finished the race on March 14. If there is such a thing as mushing royalty, Redington is it. His grandfather, Joe Redington Sr., co-founded the race, and his father, Raymie Redington, finished the race 10 times. Redington's Alaskan roots run just a deep.

Hi Coral, & thanks for taking us along on your journey!
A question if I may; earlier in your report you spoke of having the shower head changed to a hand held one. Is that something that can just be requested, or was there a problem with the original?
