CANADA IN AUGUST

Good morning fellow cruisers! My up coming cruise in August will be the first time I am heading north. I will be going to Canada on the Venezia. I was wondering if any one can give me a heads up about the typical weather that time of year. It sounds cold according to the websites I've visited! Can you swim comfortably or even at all? Would I need a coat at night? Shorts/jeans/T-shirts? Sweatshirt/Jacket during the day. I am a New Yorker so I am accustomed to all kinds of weather. I just want to be prepared. Usually I'm just packing sun dresses, t-shirts, shorts and a bathing suit. Thanks in advance 🙂

Where in Canada will you be cruising?

Around here, temperatures in August average in the mid 20sC but can get to the mid 30s during a heat wave.

Swimming is very popular in the summer.

You may need a sweater in the evening.  I rarely wear jeans in the summer, they're too hot.

I'm going to St Johns and Halifax. Thanks for letting me know.  Still a little cool for New Yorkers in the summer. We're used the 90sF. I can not wait to go though. The cities sound amazing!

When you are sailing? I am on the Venezia 4 day cruise to St John only

Weather wise looks similar to the weather here in NYC but less humid and maybe a little cooler

We're doing the 5 day to St Johns and Halifax. I'm really excited! 3 more booked within the next year. This one is my only Canada one. I've never been on the Canada one before and it was highly recommended.

Saint John, New Brunswicnk; NOT St. John's, Newfoundland.

Weather in the cities will likely be in the low to mid 20s (70s for Americans) although it may be warmer.  Good chance for some fog in Saint John.  Dress for a pleasant summer day.  Bring a light jacketand/or sweater for outside while at sea.  That may be cooler but you won't freeze or anything like that.

Thanks for the info! I usually bring a sweater/hoodie or jacket just in case sea days are cool at night anyway. Once you hit the Carolinas on your way back to New York in the winter months.....brrrrr!

We sailed this itinerary in splendor in august a few years back.    It was very heavy fog.   About 75 degrees.    Depends where you are from if it’s warm enough to swim.  Florida woukd think that’s cold.   A Michigan would think it’s perfect

I'm a New Yorker so 75 is a relief in August lol
