I was going to say you jinxed it - but didn't know if that would be insensitive LOL

How's the family taking it all? Mood still OK on the ship?

All good, we were a little worried they would feel in danger.  But they appear to be taking it in stride.

I am glad you are headed back to Kiel.  Much better than getting stuck at sea.  With some luck, maybe this gets fixed quickly and you are just a little late getting back into Dover.

When are your flights home?

Hi Jimbo-thanks for the updates! All of us Pride people with upcoming cruises are anxious for news! By the way, since you have an additional sea day, would you have time to list the current department managers on Pride, such as food manager, etc.? Totally love having a direct link to everything Pride-related, by the way!!! 😃

So I'm live onboard today. Used some of the cabin credit to pay for a day of internet. Was talking to Frankie (our Cruise Director) after the free Bingo Game (we didn't win). He said that one Azipod is working just fine but the other one wiggles around like a worm. Put another way - tilt an office chair on it's side and the wheels wiggle around until they stabilize. In this case the ocean currents keep it un-stabilized so it continues to wiggle around on it's own. So that is what they will be trying to fix.

Sound like something some big lag bolts should be able to fix. Heading to the hardware store for you guys right now! 🛠️

Some additional thoughts on our cruise. The ship is really beautiful right now for an old gal. Coming back from Lubeck (Keil) yesterday, I noticed even the life boats got a brand new paint job. The ocean is a harsh mistress and Carnival Pride is around 20 years old, but she looks great right now.

Either that or a couple rolls of duck tape.

We have a small group of 12.  All different times.  Some are tight others….not so much.  I think there may be some behind the scenes planning for us in Kiel.  They are trying tog et ok for us to wander the city at night when we get there.  We will see.  We have Steak House tonight, would love to go into city after (if we have the time), we will see how it all works out.  Not quite the ending to the live review I had planned, but if you guys are up for it….. I am.

Pretty sure she is under her own power. One Azipod is fine, but with the other one wiggling around, I'm sure they are worried about that other one getting damaged and needing a much more significant repair time.

You are correct, no tugs

If I were a betting man @jimbo5544 they're going to charter you a plane from Hamburg to get everyone to London for their flights. Hang tough.

Cruise Director said no one can debark in Keil due to Customs & Immigration issues (his words). So going ashore is being set up - but not with suitcases.

This is one case where I'm somewhat glad we have Carnival transfers and Fly2Fun. If we miss our Heathrow to San Diego direct flights, at least Carnival is on the hook to get us another flight. Although it probably won't be as convenient as a direct flight.

In some minutes Pride will reach Kiel Lighthouse.. Pilot (Pilot Stein) is already waiting.

2 tugs (Buelk and Holtenau) are waiting south of Lighthouse to escort Pride into the harbour

It is 5:05 pm our time.  Captain just came on and said we will be at dock 6:30 pm.  Guests will not be allowed to get off this evening (sounds like an immigration thing).  They have additional experts boarding to assist with stabilizing the starboard azipod (assume powering it up as well.  If someone could ask our local expert Cheng75(?) about whether this is all possible, it would be good info.  They are working on getting us the OK to get off ship tomorrow….this will be interesting to see how it all works out.  More to follow.

Huh, never thought of that.  Not to worry, I am a chicken salad guy instead of chicken shi(p).  All that said, there are a TON of people on here doing B2B and B2B2B and even some B2B2B2B.  I know there are a lot reading this wondering what the future holds.

Always good info, thanks.  Is there an extra vowel in that word?😉

I can think of worse places to be stuck.  However, I feel for all the people worried about making their flights.  The airlines are a mess right now with lots of cancelled flights for multiple reasons.  Keeping fingers crossed the azipod issue is straightened out.  Perhaps some gorilla glue....
