Fort Lauderdale cruise port question

When disembarking a SS ship from FLL cruise port ...are taxis readily available to take to the airport ? Should a transfer be arranged in n advance ? Flight does not depart until 3:38. Thank You

There are taxis available at the cruise terminal.  We have done both scheduling a limo or grabbing a cab.  Either works though the taxi will be less expensive.

We will also be disembarking in FLL at the end of a TA this Fall.  What sort of transfer does SS provide to the airport with D2D service?

Several points:

 

Most airlines at FLL won't accept luggage for check-in any greater than three hours before departure.

 

You can see the airport from your ship.  Take a taxi, which saves you all the effort of arranging for a car, making sure you meet the correct driver and any timing issues.

SS D2D service is via BUS.    Have fun with that one

SS generally offer bus transfers to both FLL and MIA, either direct for earlier flights or via some awful tour for later flights.

 

Just get a taxi to FLL, no argument there.

 

For MIA (for those who might be interested) it depends on the size of your party. SS charges per head (used to be about $50), while taxis charge per car (used to be $100+), so as a solo I usually take the bus transfer but for two or more pax a taxi could still be best.

21 days total and no dry cleaning service aboard ... we'll probably need our OWN bus given how "we're" likely to be packing.  We've had issues with taxis at the FLL port with 4 suitcases.  Sounds like we'd best arrange our own transport.  We've done the bus thing and IIRC, the drop off isn't always very conveniently located to the UA ticket counter.

Ever thought of...gasp....each taking a separate taxi to FLL.  It's not like that's going to break the bank.

 

Mrs FT often takes a separate taxi when we are in a city where the taxis all seem to be smaller vehicles. Even when there are occasionally some larger vehicles, two taxis will get you there faster than waiting for a big one.  Works like a charm.

That's why I like uber – the XL category gets you a vehicle with more room than a taxi.
