We are boarding Eclipse in a few hours. We are very concerned about the exposure to 2nd vape emissions due to my husband's very serious,  previous allergic reaction to emissions in an outdoor setting. We have sent 6 emails, 2 each to Laura, executive offices and shareholder benefits and received two phone calls from Aurora in the executive office. We are nervous about any reaction my husband my have especially as vaping allowed indoors and not contained to an area with improved ventilation and easy to avoid.  Fingers crossed 🤞

Now you can email the executive office, again and on your PCS with your first hand experiences with this poor decision. Enjoy your cruise. Bon Voyage. 🥂

Enjoy your cruise. It would be interesting to know if passengers onboard are:

1) told that this "trial" is taking place.

2) the terms of the trial.

3) if there is a specific way passengers can lodge their views - not just the general post cruise online survey.

Thanks

My experience on the 7/16 Eclipse cruise is that no "trial" is ever mentioned.  Being allowed to vape on the port side of the Casino is just stated as a fact on the slot machines and in the daily paper.  And nothing other than the standard ways of providing feedback:  Guest Services, Casino manager, mid-cruise QR code.

I am in heart failure and have lung issues so dreading exposure to vaping on Equinox for 19 days this winter. One of my favorite things about Celebrity has been their no smoking policy!

If it is allowed, it will hopefully only be a few people in one section of the casino.  So easy enough to avoid perhaps?

Request to speak with the hotel director and with the CC concierge about it. Also bring it up to the Captain during the Q&A part of his/her presentation/talk.

Pretty much what I thought.

Not much of a “trial” when no one knows it’s happening nor the conditions under which it is being held.

Great ideas - any one onboard prepared to do this?

We'll be on the Eclipse in October. By then the so called vaping in the casino trial period would have run it's course. If vaping in the casino is going to be allowed going forward I plan on doing what I posted #18. Way to kill some time on our only boring sea day.

  • 2 weeks later...

We are back from our cruise on Eclipse and re-adjusting to life shoreside. We did not spend much time in the casino as we don't gamble, but looked around on a few occasions while waiting for bar service and did not witness any vaping or signage. When my husband inquired if vaping was allowed, a crew member replied that it was, but only on the port side of the casino. As I had sent two emails of concern to three different email addresses pre-cruise, my husband did receive a phone call from Guest Relations mid-way through the cruise to inquire as to how his cruise experience with vaping was going.  Following his report of no issues on board, we received a flower arrangement from Guest Services. My husband did witness a vape cloud appear above the head of a passenger in the Ocean View Cafe over the lunch hour; when he found a manager to confirm that vaping was not allowed in the OVC the manager took the issue very seriously, but by then the individual had already left. So, we did not have any issues with vaping and 2nd hand emissions on this trip and Celebrity is taking our concerns very seriously. As to where this leads in the future, only time will tell.
