Rare 1025cruise Posted August 5, 2023 #2 Share Posted August 5, 2023 Well, there's no mini golf on the ship. The Galley will be open for lunch, and the pizza opens at 2:00. But, the ship is mostly a ghost town.
rebeccac Posted August 5, 2023 #3 Share Posted August 5, 2023 Which does make it a lovely time to enjoy the pools without quite so many people around.

There are plenty of board games plus some stuff in the sports court. Will be some exercise classes but most are early morning and late afternoon anyway on both port and sea days, with a few extra on sea days. Check out the line up as there will be a few organised activities but less than a sea day. It’s a good time to relax, maybe go to the spa or chill by the pool. lunch is the same on port and sea days. The Galley has plenty of options including tacos, hot sandwiches and salads plus there is pizza from 2pm and the dock for mezze.
Fogcityca13 Posted August 6, 2023 #5 Share Posted August 6, 2023 Brunch is always easy to do on port days, you have The Wake and Razzel Dazzle. I’ve heard that Razzel Dazzle is a bit hectic when visiting Bimini. Our visit to Bimini turned into a sea day, but we were still able to walk up to RD. Rare cantgetin Posted August 6, 2023 #6 Share Posted August 6, 2023 RD was a mess on our Bimini day; we were told it was because the normal RD team handles the island and we had a "training" team. All the normal breakfast and lunch venues are open of port days. The Social Club and Arcade will be open. and, like the pool, there will be little or no waiting. The "adult playground" will be open for basketball, swings, teeter-totter, etc. If you have an overnight port, many things will open in the afternoon.

One thing I noticed on Resilient was they have made major improvements to training. There seemed to be a better trainer to trainee ratio. Not sure if it was a staffing increase or a different approach. We had 1,500 - 1,800 on Resilient compared to 1,000 on the last cruise on Valiant. The service in The Wake was top notch.
Rare CineGraphic Posted August 6, 2023 #8 Share Posted August 6, 2023 We love staying on board while in port, especially in the Caribbean, where we've been to several of the islands many times.
Travel-and-See Posted August 6, 2023 #9 Share Posted August 6, 2023 If you're looking for things to do like organized activities - there won't be many options. If you're looking to sit back and relax and feel like you own your very own cruise ship and enjoy the peace and quiet - you will be in heaven! haha.
Rare CruisingWalter Posted August 7, 2023 #10 Share Posted August 7, 2023 Very little in the way of organized activities. The only games onboard are the Retro Arcade, which I love, and the games in the Social Club. You also have the outdoor gym and the sports court. But otherwise you're going to find a very chill and quiet ship. VV really emphasizes getting off the ship and going into port so they do not have a full slate of activities like the other ships. Mini Golf and Ping Pong have no place on VV. I've never understood ping pong on a ship to be honest, Mini Golf all day long, but ping pong has always amused me because it seems people are chasing the ball around the deck more than they are playing. 🙂 The best part of staying onboard during a port day is access to the main pool. It's basically a huge hot tub on sea days, we've literally seen it where you almost cannot move there are so many people in there. But we did a ship day in Puerto Plata on our first Scarlet sailing and had a glorious 3 hours or so just lounging in and around the pool.
happy cruzer Posted August 7, 2023 Author #11 Share Posted August 7, 2023 Yes before retirement lounging was an activity we enjoyed. Now we like a bit of socialisation and activity. The sports court sounds fun.
