When I make a reservation for him, it gets charged to OUR cabin's folio. This would be the easiest and most useful way to spend their OBC (they seriously don't need anything else onboard). The only way to use OBC to pay for SD is to make a reservation on board. Making one via DMW always costs you (unless you have free SD credit). You are not actually charged until the dinner occurs. Just tell the MD or your Waiter who is paying for whom and they will charge accordingly.

Take the receipt to the casino cashier and voila - you have cash in hand. And just like that POOF, it will be gone one day. You would then elect to load $X to your Medallion account and you then play on that machine for some and see how you do. (Every time you play or elect to load funds, you will tap Medallion and enter personal PIN you picked at setup time). Optionally, you could do the same at the electronic poker table. Or, go to casino cage and setup. You can buy chips at gaming tables and play there as well. Just remember to cash out at the casino cage before last night of the cruise. Casino play is charged to the cabin account and goes against OBC or final settlement to credit card on account. If you leave Non-Refundable OBC unspent, it just vaporizes upon check-out. If you have Refundable OBC (pretty rare), you can get refunded small amounts from Guest Services or you get a check in the mail post-cruise. I bolded the key sentences in the above quote - just want to make sure the casino method as we know it before, still working as the $X will charge to your shipboard account, and will be offset by whatever OBC in the shipboard account at that time. As long as you play, you can still cash out at the cage the balance in your casino account by the last day of the cruise the latest. From memory if you do not play shortly after adding fund thru this method, you are not allowed to add more fund. Playing a few times would avoid this restriction. You can always cash out your casino account at any given time at whatever amount you choose up to the balance if the cadino account of course. I just want to make sure this is still the case as the mechanism still the same - because the OP who started this thread claimed they were not allow to cash out their casino account balances. cshepard1965 Posted March 22 #54 Share Posted March 22 Hey Cruisers: We sailed on a 32 day Australia and New Zealand Grand Princess Cruise in October/November 2023. 1st. We told Princess that we will tip personally, and not to charge a daily fee pp/pd. 2nd. About 2 days before end of sail I loaded all of obc into a slot machine. Played 1 game and then cashed out. Balance was paid in ship currency, which was AUD. We used that money to tip directly to cabin steward and regular waiter. Happy and Healthy Sailing!!!!

Fyi, we have been told by numerous staff/crew that when you remove the auto-gratuities, they have to turn in any gratuities that they are given to the tip pool. For our upcoming December, 51-day cruise on the Majestic we were given $900 pp OBC. I see some nice bottles of wine in our future! 🤪🍷

I always have at least 400+. That's 150 from FCD and 250 from shares. Add in a Specialty Dining voucher on my next cruise. But it's been a few years since a CVP had obc to gift out. My previous one retired 12/31/22 and that was the end of that.
Titanfan22 Posted March 24 #60 Share Posted March 24 FCC, I consider my money. Next cruise I have been given $100 OBC and I see the stock ownership shares which I consider free money, just wondering if people are getting $600, $800, or more as I see in posts. If so, just curious why. Tks

Future Cruise DEPOSIT (FCD) is also my money and it comes with OBC. If the cruise has extended (overnight) stays in a port that has expensive excursions I've gotten a lot more OBC (Lima for instance had an overnight stay, $2000~ overnight excursion to Manchu Picchu, voyage had a very large amount of extra OBC but I didn't have to go to Manchu Picchu to get the OBC.) forget exact amt but it was $×××× Edited March 24 by Ombud

No. Why would we overpay for the cruise to get OBC unless the OBC was more than the difference in price. Personally, I pay the same that Princess charges but use a TA who gives the OBC.

I’m a value hunter so I typically set my cruise schedule around the best price. Where do you find these larger on board credit offerings? The cruise line will get a fair share of my cash thru the drink package, spa, and and other indulgences. I just trying to learn some added value tips from the savvy cruises on this board. Tks It often depends on length of voyage. You get more OBC from a FCD with longer voyages. Many guests own CCL stock and can get $100/segment or $250 per voyage. A lot of veterans use Princess and they get $250. Doesn't take long to get to the range mentioned. Some guests are using agencies that charge the PCL cruise fare and then rebate back in OBC or other cash equivalents. Personally, I use US agencies that give a discount off the cruise fare so that our OBC doesn't get too large.

I would say they overpaid, but that is relative to timing I’m sure.
Rare LACruiser88 Posted March 24 #67 Share Posted March 24 7 minutes ago, Titanfan22 said: but that is relative to timing I’m sure. Exactly! The price of a cruise can vary greatly from the time the itinerary is released to the time of actually sailing. That is why it is important to check your cruise fare up to final payment. I check our fares multiple times a week, this has saved us a ton of money by re-faring (or cancelling and re-booking) over the years.
