GVM Posted August 14, 2023 #1 Share Posted August 14, 2023 Hey guys, Maybe a very stupid question, but does anyone know if the cashier at the casino of Celebrity Edge accepts coins? I know from my cruise with Apex last year that the cashier accepts EUR and USD banknotes, however, I am not aware if they accept coins. As a European, I have a lot of USD-coins left from previous trips, but coins are hard to exchange in Europe. So I was wondering if I could burn some USD-coins at the cashier in exchange for some play money 🙂
dazey Posted August 14, 2023 #2 Share Posted August 14, 2023 They give out American coins and if they have a machine to sort and count I would think they would take them.
Rare Jim_Iain Posted August 14, 2023 #3 Share Posted August 14, 2023 If not I'm sure you can go to the Front Desk and see if they will convert coins for you. I've gone down and had them break down some $100 bills.
Rare Shiba_Lover Posted August 14, 2023 #4 Share Posted August 14, 2023 They do take coins.

GVM Posted October 1, 2023 Author #6 Share Posted October 1, 2023 Back from the cruise and I feel I need to give you an update/confirmation 😉 There are two ATM's in the casino to withdraw money, one in USD, one in EUR. At the cashier desk they indeed do take coins, but only in USD. I was expecting to get the coins converted into casino credit, but they were low on coins, so cashier seemed pretty happy with me, and offered banknotes bak. Eventually I managed to exchange coins into 45 USD banknotes 🙂
cruisingaussies Posted December 20, 2023 #7 Share Posted December 20, 2023 Thanks so much for posting the outcome, GVM. I had exactly the same question. Have now packed my US coins for our upcoming cruise!

GVM Posted May 12 Author #10 Share Posted May 12 Just to update: I am at Edge again (coincidence), and cashier again took my USD coins happily! She told me they are always short of USD coins.

Like, I could pack my laundry and couch coins that I've squirreled away in a jar and they will take them just like the Coinstar machine in my local grocery store? Exactly! 🙂 You can get banknotes back or transfer it in Casino Credit

I'm with you I really don't understand this thread. My goal is to pack as little as possible and light weight was possible. I can't see myself lugging heavy coins 1/2 way across the world. But I am happy for any outcome, that makes others happy.

I understand, but I am Dutch, and in Europe you can exactly do nothing with USD coins 😉 Banks only change back USD banknotes to EUR, but not coins. I flew Business Class to YVR, so for my checked-in luggage, weight was not an issue. But if you are reading this thread from an American perspective: indeed, it seems weird 😉 Edited May 13 by GVM

This is really interesting to me, so thank you! I’m probably not going to lug my coins with me on my next cruise but I totally get why you would and it makes perfect sense!
