Franklin, Bermuda, Vision

Anyone here hear anything yet about Vision's upcoming Bermuda run? If it leaves Baltimore Saturday and that storm is passing thru the same turf on the Atlantic, it's not a good outlook for them making their scheduled call.

Just curious if anyone's heard anything yet.

Still early to know for sure whether Franklin will head towards Bermuda or go further east or fizzle out.

You most likely won't hear any updates from Royal until late Friday or Saturday.

Worst case the cruise could head north to Nova Scotia.

We were on a Bermuda cruise a couple years when a hurricane was heading to Bermuda but we still went, had some nice weather but most businesses were preparing for the storm boarding up and putting sand bags out.  We had high winds and rough seas on the way back.

Stay tuned to Noaa website for updates on Franklin's path.

Since you're booked on that cruise, you'd be likely to hear any updates before the rest of us.

I'm not booked on the cruise. Asking for a friend... But we just joined their group on another social media site to follow along.

I am booked on the cruise. Got an email from Royal saying that there are currently no changes. They will send another update Friday evening

We sailed on the Anthem out of Bayonne to Bermuda pre-pandemic. We got 2 day's notice that we were being diverted to Halifax. But, some people didn't read their emails or their TAs didn't notify them and showed up in shorts and t-shirts for departure,,, to find out that they needed a coat and scarf. It was a great cruise!

If today was Saturday and the current forecast was right, you may have some change to your itinerary since as of 11am ET the storm was to be passing west of Bermuda on Monday into Tuesday.

Luckily it's not Saturday and the forecast will change. The last couple updates have sped the storm up, so you want to root for that to continue and get it out of the way for an on time arrival and stay in Bermuda.

It has to do with the winds and seas. Tropical force winds extend out well away from the center of the storm. And it may not be the beset to go north. It may be better to hug the US coast and sneak in behind the storm. May arrive a bit late, but still get there.

My wife and I will go wherever the ship takes us. The port is about an hour from home, so we can change what we pack based on any changed destination. Maybe if they don't announce a change we should pack for both Bermuda and Canada in case they change directions at the last minute

That's not what that map means. Those boundaries are anywhere that has at least a 5% chance of seeing the winds.   Areas with at least a 50% chance of tropical storm winds is about half that size.

Just got email from Royal.  The cruise is no longer going to Bermuda, but to Nassau and Perfect Day instead.

I was kind of worried that would happen. There's just no way to get to Bermuda safely on a short cruise with Franklin firmly passing between the two.

Nassau and PD for Bermuda = 😞

Just to try to get folks feeling better if disappointed.  Just got off Vision today.  Ship is well maintained and staff was fabulous.  IMHO — you will still have a nice cruise even though destination has changed.  Katherine

That sucks as the Bermuda cruise was more than likely a little more expensive.

Why would it suck? The OP, like we do, sail the Caribbean several times a year at the absolute peak of the hurricane season. And we go wherever the ship take use.

It sucks because PD and Nassua are NOT Bermuda.... not even close.

You are 100% right.  However, that is the chance you take cruising in the Caribbean and Bermuda, ESPECIALLY during the Hurricane season.  Luckily, for us, the ship and the sea are our destination, everything else is just gravy/icing.
