European Travel Plug Adapter on Voyager

Recommended Posts

We will be cruising Voyager soon.  I am looking at buying a European Plug Adapter to add more outlets for charging phones and laptop.   I have been guessing I need a Type C Adapter, not a Type E or F.  Am I guessing correctly?  Has anyone had success using one on Voyager?  Any suggestions.

I don't recall if they are technically C, E, or F, but never had any issue with the following. The first is E/F and the second is C, they all work.

I travel with these:

And a couple of these;

And one of these. Bought this one many years ago. There are version that have USB-C PD ports on them now.

I am glad you posted the 3rd item.  I have a similar device and forgot about it! I was just looking at it and noticed I had a USB-A to USB-C cord attached to it.

The second ones is one that I been considering.   I have also been considering the ones that have AC outlets on the sides too.

The problem with the "type C" plug adapter is that it is ungrounded.  The Tessan adapter shown gives the impression that you are using a grounded outlet, since the US side is 3-prong.  While the "type E/F" appears the same, with only two pins, you will notice a metal band on the periphery of the adapter, at the top and bottom, and these connect with the ground strips in the ship's outlet, to provide ground protection.

We just got off Jewel of the Seas and used this adapter.  It worked great!                                        Cruise Power Strip No Surge Protector with USB Outlets - Ship Approved (Non Surge Protection) Cruise Essentials  https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BHVKPC3?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1

Good points. However, I don't have anything I use for travel that has a ground anyway😁

Thanks.

  This is one I had not seen for the AC outlet.  My concern with larger ones has been pluging them in.  On the cruise ship the the AC is upside down.  One video shows where a person on a Celebrity ship could not use it because the AC plug was too close to the desk.  In the reviews two said they were able to use it on Voyager class ships.

I am glad you mentioned that.  Looking at what I will bring, only one item is grounded.  I will be plugging it into the AC plug-in.

I got the second one off Amazon and it worked great on Navigator.

We ended up using it for 2 things plugged in at the same time.  Typically it was a camera battery charger and a phone charger with 3 charging plates.  Because the size of the plug-in blocks for each was a little larger we only did the 2, but it wasn't a big deal to unplug one and plug in something else (like my hair dryer because on Jewel there isn't an outlet in the bathroom for a hair dryer).
