cowprintrabbit Posted September 2, 2023 #1 Share Posted September 2, 2023 Brand new owner of a mobility scooter due to POTS - we will have priority boarding as a wedding party (Woohoo!) but how does getting off work? I seem to remember that the elevators are “luggage only” the first and last day? Is there one reserved for passengers that can’t do the stairs, or do we gather in a different area and get escorted off? My fiancé is planning on self assisting off so he can pick me and the friend that’s staying back with me up in our rental van.
1025cruise Posted September 2, 2023 #2 Share Posted September 2, 2023 There will be a location for people needing assistance to meet.
Rare Essiesmom Posted September 2, 2023 #3 Share Posted September 2, 2023 BY the time the start allowing people to debark all luggage has long been down on I95 waiting for it to be offloaded. The elevators will be crowded with those doing self debark with tons of luggage. Is he going to take all the luggage with him? Are you going to be able to manage some of it? Because once he has left the terminal to get the car, he won’t be allowed back in. You might have to get a porter to help. EM
Bob++ Posted September 3, 2023 #4 Share Posted September 3, 2023 We always pack as much as we can into the big cases, leaving just the minimum for the morning plus medications etc to be carried at debarcation. You should also have a water flask as you may be waiting around for some time. You will be told where to gather, but if there is any doubt, ask. Stick together with your partner until you have collected all your luggage together in departures and then send him off to get the van. I can only speak from our experience, but we have always found the staff, both on the ship and in reception very helpful.

EM The friend who is staying behind with me is a 6ft Scandinavian weightlifter 😁 Not opposed to using a porter either if one is available.

Schoifmom Posted September 7, 2023 #7 Share Posted September 7, 2023 I don't know what your timetable is like, but we always put our luggage out the night before and then stay on the ship as long as possible. This makes getting an elevator easier. Also, you might consider using forward or aft elevators and going to the appropriate debarkation floor, as the central elevators always seem to be the ones that are the busiest. We did just debark off the Spirit and went down during early debarkation, though, and had no issues whatsoever.

Definitely putting most of the luggage out the night before - I just don't trust them with my wedding dress... We have an aft wraparound cabin, so the aft elevators should be handy, thanks! The rearmost two cabins on most decks have a huge L-shaped balcony. I’ve always wanted to try one, so we booked it for the honeymoon 🥰
