petuniaflower Posted September 11, 2023 #1 Share Posted September 11, 2023 So we are booked for October with a group of us..one cabin had an adult, their child and a cousin (child age 3) from a family of 5, in lieu of that family having to get 2 cabins..the 4 of them are booked in one cabin and their 3rd child is booked with the uncle and cousin. Just got word the uncle cannot come. Is it possible to transfer his spot to his moms? Or if thats not possible can we still keep the cabin so that the child that was booked in his cabin (from the family of 5) can still come on the cruise, or will that not be possible if the adult doesnt go? Hope this makes sense. The rest of the families all have full cabins, so we are in a panic not knowing where to put the little guy. Perhaps they would allow one of the parents in the cabin 4 to switch to that cabin to be able to keep it? I have reached out to our cruise specialist..awaiting a response. I was suggesting they be a no show. Once onboard they wouldnt throw him off the ship and someone can sleep in his cabin with him. I doubt at this late date someone else can be subbed, if the cruise is next month, october. But call and ask.

I was suggesting a way without extra cost just so they could leave things as they are. And leave on the cruise. Changing pax after final payment might make them reprice the cruise, almost always a expensive way to go. Sure after they board beds can and should be switched around. Sorry not sure what you mean about 2 children.

Rare lazydayz Posted September 12, 2023 #10 Share Posted September 12, 2023 Please come back and update us. My hope is they allow one of the adults in another cabin to switch over to this cabin, and one of the children to take that adult’s place. Then the uncle can no show, unless he has travel insurance and wants to make a claim. We had a similar issue once. We had hubby and me in one cabin, and my mom and minor granddaughter in another. Mom had to cancel for health reasons so they let me move to the granddaughter’s room and hubby got to keep our nice cabin all to himself. There was no repricing of any cabin, and a week or two after the cruise, my mom’s taxes and fees were refunded. She eventually got her cruise fare refunded by the travel insurance company.
petuniaflower Posted September 19, 2023 Author #11 Share Posted September 19, 2023 Thanks all..they wouldnt allow a net new person to replace the adult (fair), but they did allow transferring an adult from the other cabin to "room" with the child..there were penalties deducted, but he did end up getting some sort of refund, which I was surprised by since were just over a month out. So if you had another adult relative available to join the cruise and stay in the child's room, Carnival wouldn't allow a change of passenger? Even with penalties and fees? Only someone who was already booked onboard? Just trying to figure the rules out. TIA!
petuniaflower Posted September 19, 2023 Author #13 Share Posted September 19, 2023 Correct, as per what we were told, the guys mom (who was not booked) was happy to sub in for him on the trip, but this was not allowed as she was a net new passenger..they would however let an already booked/paid adult from another cabin transfer into that cabin.
