Well, the only time we've done Club Class..yes. we're about to do Reserve Class tomorrow....I expect it will be the same, but the section that is reserved for this is relatively small compared to the overall DR size so it's really not much of a problem.

Thanks, have a great cruise!

Good Morning Rick&Jeannie; Question:  Can you still request the same table (for two) in the MDR Reserve Section?  Since 2003, we're always have done this and have been successful!  Thanks.

We do Reserve Class on all our cruises and have never found the need to request a permanent table because there is always plenty of good ones available.  I am not sure if wait staff would do that because if someone wanted a window table and they said it was reserved then that would open a whole can of worms for the staff.  We have never seen them reserve individual tables in Reserve Class.

We always prefer to have the same staff at dinner; they would know our dining preferences; what I can eat, what I can't eat and, it just makes for a great one-on-one situation.  You get to know the staff and they get to know you.  If we can't reserve the same table each night, then it's off to the MDR which is no biggy; we've done that for all of our cruises and it was great!

That used to be Traditional Dining without extra cost.

Happy Cruising!

I believe timing also plays an important role if you want the same table every night, or at least be in the section with your same servers. For us we always dine early, usually when the Reserve Dining Room opens, and there is absolutely no problem getting our same "non window" table for 2. However, if we were to show up between 6:30 - 7 pm when a lot of other folks do, we may not be so lucky.

I can’t even imagine eating dinner before 7:30 even at home

Hopefully you never have digestive issues where you have to eat early. But then again there are definitely perks for eating early, with one being able to go to the early theater show followed going to their hilarious game shows! 😁

The idea of Reserve Class is that the tables are reserved for everyone in that category.  Usually there is never a problem and you almost always will have the same staff every night if you want and pretty much same table but it is not guaranteed.  It just depends when you get there.  They will know your preferences believe me.  But if others want a window seat that you think is yours they will not hesitate to allow them to sit there.  However, we have never had a trouble getting any table we wanted in Reserve Class if it was not being occupied.

Actually one of us does have issues like that but we are night owls in the casino so we rarely go to bed before midnight or later.  After 54 cruises there are not too many shows we haven’t seen

Have you done 54 cruises on Princess only?

Shows do change even on Princess.

Sorry but it's hard for me to keep all these changes straight in my head

Reserve class dining is the opposite of my time. It is only for full suites and reserve class mini suites. Walk in sit down no reservations

54 on Princess since 1992. Burned out awhile ago on production shows. We will sometimes check out a guest performance but that is about it.

We certainly live a different lifestyle. Our main meal at home is around 2:30 to 3 PM and at 9 PM we're ready to go to the buffet for a "midnight" snack.

We are more like a light lunch at 1pm and then dinner at 7:30   Bedtime on ship is usually around 1am

Here’s is the link to their various dining options. However, I don’t believe there is early and late fixed seating anymore in the MDRs. Instead you can either make your MDR reservations in advance through the App or just show up and wait in line to be seated. With the Reserve Collection Dining, there are no reservations accepted or required. However, it’s pretty easy to develop a bond with the Reserve Dining host to be seated at the same table or in the same area with the same servers at all seatings, whether it’s breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

We have done 55 Princess cruises and 3 more this year on Princess. However, we do other cruise lines, too. This way there is a variety of ships, entertainment, food  ports, etc.

Happy Cruising!

I have to reflect back on the first time a cruise line started implementing a My, Any, whatever time dining other than the old Traditional. So many complained that they would never accept anything other than Traditional Dining. If that cruise line did not offer Traditional Dinning they would not cruise that line again. LOL

Now you are paying extra for Reserve. LOL

REGARDLESS, HAPPY CRUISING!

Enjoy it, it is your choice!

We are easily able to replicate the traditional dining experience by making reservations ahead of time for the same dining room and time every night. We are given the same table and waitstaff every night this way.

I do think Reserve might be nice to avoid the waits at breakfast and lunch though!
