Welcome to Cruise Critic, where there's never a dull moment.  😄

And as a Platinum, never mind as a suite guest, you are absolutely allowed to do so.

There's a chance you'll be able to occupy your suite early, as well as just dropping off your luggage; ask your steward if it seems your suite has been readied for you when you arrive.   Early stateroom access might be a suite-guest perk, one of the few on Carnival, alas.

You are not supposed to stay in your room, ready or not, until after 1:30 pm.  Asking just put the room attendant in an awkward position where they risk ticking off a tipping guest.  Room may be cleaned but inspections may not be and deliveries may not be finished.  They don't want crew and guests in rooms at the same time,

Officers are not crew.  There are three groups of employees on board - Crew, Staff and Officers.

Crew members on a cruise ship are service employees who work under the direction of a Manager or other supervising staff.  Staff employees on a cruise ship generally consist of upper level positions in the following departments: Cruise directors and assistants, Shore excursion, Retail employees ( photography, art, and casino departments) Spa & Salon employees.

Officers oversee the nautical and mechanical aspects of the ship, ensuring the safety of the passengers and crew at all times. They are highly trained and report directly to the ship’s Captain. And as such, officers have complete authority over any crew or staff member onboard the ship.

English is the official language onboard and is the standard for all emergency communications.

Manager or supervising staff that are classified as officers. Check your crew manning on a ship. The officers WILL be listed at the senior level. Do not k ow where you get you info but it is flawed.

I started this thread just asking if I could drop my carry on bag in my cabin as soon as I got on board. It pivoted  to foreign languages, entitled people chain of command to name a few. I had planned to go through the doors that say 130 put my bag in the closet and go to lido deck.

A word of advice, you should be sure to leave a luggage tag on anything that you leave in the suite and possibly a note for the cabin steward.

As I posted in a previous thread, we dropped off our soda, energy drinks and a jacket (nothing you'd normally have a luggage tag on) and when we came back to the cabin they had been removed.

We ended up getting them back (minus one of the Monsters) but it took a couple of trips to Guest Services and more time than I would care to spend on embarkation day.

At one time, Carnival was prioritizing suites on turnover day to have them ready by boarding time, and I thought suite guests were allowed -- and were the ONLY passengers allowed -- to occupy their staterooms upon boarding.

However, I just searched on the website and couldn't find a reference to this, so either I was misremembering, or the perk was discontinued.

A pity, since exclusive suite perks on Carnival are few and far between, compared to other lines that have, say, concierges.

Please tell us exactly what perk allows you to go to the front of any line.

Embarkation, Tender at tender ports, Purser's desk, Debarkation. Those perks are hidden from the non-perk pax by gathering in a location other than stairwells and elevator bays. The front of the line generally isn't seen by those who aren't gathered.

Wow, I have never heard of that happening before. I bet if you had left some luggage, you would have been fine. It certainly makes sense that the steward thought your drinks and jacket were left behind by the previous guest.

You're SURE it has never been allowed in the past?

Yep, the posting was always FTTP, Plats, Diamonds and Suites may drop off their luggage and leave.  Even when the cabin attendants were finished, there were still deliveries to be made and they did not want crew/guests in the cabins together especially during the restrictions. But as always, some guests ignored that, and then announced that they were allowed to stay because they had a suite.

John Heald weighs in on the language issue. The comments are noteworthy as well.

Notice he doesn't give people fuel to complain to GS for compensation.  He has talked about it before.

People are demanding compensation because crew members are speaking another language within their earshot?  Now I have heard everything.

Absolutely.  They assumed crew were talking about them, they felt uncomfortable, why are they in guest areas, etc, etc.  Mind you, he of course, asked "should I do it" to set off the feeding frenzy .  Guests said they note it on their surveys which dings crew members.

Yes, they are "entitled" to drop off their suitcases under Carnival's rules.

I would have probably used the word "allowed" instead of entitled, though, because there isn't a darn thing wrong with what they are doing.

"Entitlement" was once used to mean that something WAS deserved, earned, or merited. Now it has become synonymous with "false sense of entitlement".

I'm not sure about that, as diamond I was always told by the agents who checked us in that the room was ready, they said nothing about just dropping off the luggage. I remember we didn't have that benefit as platinum because I was excited to get it when I turned diamond. When we got to the room, the door was shut; I nap shortly after boarding because I can't ever sleep the night before and no one ever tried to come in the room and they wouldn't have known I was in the room. That all changed after the restart, now it's just drop and go.

PreCooties, yes.  PostCooties, no.  Anyone with priority boarding had their cabins ready for occupancy before and could remain.  Now, no.  Terminal agents also are not Carnival employees and have no knowledge of onboard.

I’m confused. Your first two posts above state that speaking another language in front of guests is not allowed. Then you acknowledge that JH has talked about this before after a post in which he says they have to speak to guests in English but is clearly endorsing them speaking in their native language to each other. Did I totally misunderstand the previous posts?

Or casino offers and the decline of food quality...😝

So true. It amazes me how petty cruisers can be. Drop 3 or 4 grand on a cruise and spend a couple hours of it complaining at the concierge desk.

There were exceptions to this.  On my last two Journeys cruises, we P&D guests were told that our cabins weren't guaranteed to be ready before 1:30.  This is, of course, because there were so many of us.

I think often with these things there's a gap between what the rules may or may not be, and what people experience in practice. We're not diamond or platinum, but we've bought FTTF a few times.

It's not a perk at least since Covid, but years ago your room was supposed to be ready at boarding with FTTF. It never was for us the various times we sailed. Then more recently bag delivery was supposed to be expedited, but they didn't seem to arrive especially earlier than anybody else's. It didn't bother us as we paid for it more for the quicker boarding/debarkation, but it always seemed like they were struggling to keep up with what they were trying to offer back then. Hopefully actual Platinum etc had better luck. Our upcoming cruise will be the first time we've sailed Carnival without FTTF so we'll see how different the experience is. I imagine probably not that much.

I've never understood this.....I hear this all the time when someone is speaking a different language.   Is it arrogance?   I'm so amazingly awesome that strangers can't help but talk about me?  Or is it simple paranoia?

I speak several languages, and have never felt the need to talk about other people while in their presence.   And I've frequently overheard people talking in a language i speak, and they were never talking about me or anyone else.
