Onboard activities to use Loot and bar tab for?

Is there a list somewhere of activities that require payment from bar tab or loot?  

I'm thinking bingo, loteria, but can't remember what else we paid for on our last cruise.

You’ll see some in the app but it might not be completely clear until onboard and the full schedule loads. 
 

you can’t pay for any activity from bar tab. It can only be used for drinks plus afternoon tea.

 

Some of the paid for activities that come from loot are;

Grog Walk

Painting and boozy bevvies

Loteria

Bingo

Shot for Shot (food photography)

Whats the (Jojo) Tea (class about tea)

Rice Rice Baby (sushi making)

Beyond Tequila

Mix it Up

Behind the Scenes tour

Another Rose dinner show (on Resilient Lady)

I used my loot to do the 'Behind the Curtains' tour of the ship.  It was pricy but was the best behind-the-scenes ship tour I ever did.  Not sure if this is still offered.

Is there a corkage fee for carry on wine?  Can that come from both bar tab and/or loot?

 

Casino?  Poker tournaments?  Up charge food in restaurants?

Anything you can charge to your room will come from loot credit. If you are using onboard credit for the casino you will get promotional credit/chips that can’t be cashed out, to stop people turning promotional loot straight into cash. You have to gamble it and then winnings can be cashed out.

If you have any bar tab then drinks will get charged to that first and if it runs out then loot and then to the credit card when that’s gone too.

 

Ive seen mixed reports about corkage, most people who bring their own wine just drink it in the room or pour to a glass first to avoid getting charged.

Definitely up charge food, etc.  Literally anything that can be charged to your room

there's only a corkage fee if you bring the bottle to a restaurant with you, and even then it's hit or miss on if you get charged.  anecdotally, i was NOT charged as a rockstar at the wake once (but we had an interesting bottle and i think maybe distracted the somm and server haha), but i WAS charged when sailing as a rockstar at extra virgin.  i can't recall if it came out of bar tab or loot, but i feel like it would have been bar tab.

 

since then, i've always popped by a bar to grab glasses and open the bottle for me and poured myself a (large) glass to bring to dinner.

 

i know some lines charge you corkage as soon as you bring the bottles on, irrespective of where you consume them, which is crazy IMO!  VV does not do that 🙂

Thanks for sharing about the corkage fee.

 

For what it matters, we prefer to pay a reasonable fee like $15, and have the wine served properly in the restaurant; can do that on all the major lines.  So far have not ever carried a "large" glass to a dining room.  Will have to consider what to do on Virgin.

i think the fee was $25, which i felt was kind of ridiculous, seeing as we could literally open the bottle anywhere else on the ship, pour some in a proper wine glass and not have this charge. 

 

for context, i live in LA, where most corkage fees start at $35 and go to $75+, so it's not that it's a culture shock for me to pay a corkage, it's just the principle of the matter here.

No, afternoon tea is considered an "activity."  you can use bar tab for non alcoholic mocktails, including the non-alcoholic pairing in Test Kitchen, smoothies, specialty coffee and tea, cold pressed juices....and that's all I can think of.  You an also share it with anyone you choose,

I’ve not done it myself (there is so much food for free I don’t see the point) but others have reported it comes from bar tab.

Every time I've gotten Afternoon Tea it's come off bar tab. Multiple sailings. I think it's charged through the Sip bar same as if they are charging a drink so comes off bar tab.

The difference is if you pay in the app or at the venue. Afternoon tea is paid at Sip directly so it comes from bar tab. If you pay before sailing or in the app onboard it never comes from bar tab.

Here's report.

 

We carried on 5 bottles.  Took 4 to restaurants.  Was charged the $25 corkage fee each night  except one night when we ordered a bottle of white wine to go with appetizers then switched to the bottle we carried on for the main course.  They did save our white wine for the next night and retrieved it for us from a different restaurant.  The $75 came out of bar loot.

If you want a glass at dinner, open the bottle in your room and carry a glass of wine into a restaurant.  You can carry a glass from anywhere on the ship to anywhere else.  If you bring a bottle that was not purchased on board to a restaurant, you will be charged the corkage fee. Your stateroom host or any bartender can supply you with glasses.
