CrossM2 Posted October 22, 2023 #1 Share Posted October 22, 2023 Why is it that the best itineraries are on the oldest smallest ships now?

Shocked91 Posted October 22, 2023 #3 Share Posted October 22, 2023 They can get into ports that the large ships can’t.

That makes sense, it just seems like the more port filled itineraries are on these ships, I’ve cruised the Jewel and Rhapsody before years ago, but I’m hearing they are need of repair. Best cruises IMO for port intensive cruises and the southern Caribbean leaves out of San Juan.

smokeybandit Posted October 22, 2023 #8 Share Posted October 22, 2023 No need to focus the new fancy ships on more unique itineraries .

lenquixote66 Posted October 22, 2023 #11 Share Posted October 22, 2023 We booked for the ports stopped in and not for the ship because we were not sea day cruise fans.
cruiseguy1016 Posted October 22, 2023 #12 Share Posted October 22, 2023 The small ships can go to exotic places. On the big ships, the SHIP is the detination.

The fact that there is so much to do on the newer/larger ships may factor into this as well

It’s hard to find one with multiple islands we haven’t been to, and it’s for a milestone birthday

We book for ship not the ports at least for Caribbean, after 60 plus Caribbean cruises ports don’t matter much. Europe is a different story.
