stquentin Posted October 30, 2023 #1 Share Posted October 30, 2023 Ok... Just some facts using basic math. I bought a 1.5 liter top brand vodka for $16.89 and 24 cans of coke for $12. I bought a 12 pack of beer for $11.49. So with a $128 On board Cruise Credit one can purchase 9 mixed drinks or 16 beers over 7 days. Ashore that would cost around (for 7 days) $3.60 for the vodka and $7 for coke (for 7 days) which brings the total out of pocket cost less than $11. Or.... 16 beers for $6.70. So your Onboard credit of $128 is actually worth less than $20.
Rare sparks1093 Posted October 31, 2023 #2 Share Posted October 31, 2023 Ok. But you aren't ashore and you aren't paying ashore prices, you are paying what the cruise line charges. Your onboard credit (in whatever amount) is worth the full amount (in your case $128) for those charges.
Rare Von & John Posted November 8, 2023 #3 Share Posted November 8, 2023 What I really want to know is where can you buy a 1.5 liter top brand vodka for $16.89? 1
Mum2Mercury Posted November 8, 2023 #4 Share Posted November 8, 2023 Location, location, location. You paid extra for someone to purchase your favorite products, transport them to the ship, store them until you wanted them, then haul away the garbage after consumption. If you want to make a land based comparison, at least go to a local bar or club and price out the drinks.
Rare KKB Posted November 12, 2023 #6 Share Posted November 12, 2023 Well I used OBC in the casino--I figure it's worth the same on a land casino as on a ship! Sometimes I use it for excursions (unless I find it quite a cheaper via a 3rd party).
