MandL Posted October 30, 2023 #1 Share Posted October 30, 2023 We just switched staterooms to an Aquaclass on the Beyond. Every time we would walk into the bathroom, it was extremely warm. Room attendant and maintenance both came and told us we needed to keep the bathroom light off because there is a heated mirror which feels like it’s about 110 degrees to the touch. They said it was part of having an Aqua stateroom and to fix they would have to pull the mirror off the wall to lower the temperature. Has anyone else come across this? We’ve sailed many times in Aqua class on the Eclipse and Solstice, but not the Edge class.

Spoke to our cabin attendant & he had someone look at it & got the same answer.

Jeremiah1212 Posted October 30, 2023 #4 Share Posted October 30, 2023 Our AQ bathroom on Edge was maybe a tiny bit warmer than the cabin but the light was off unless someone was in the bathroom. Can you not just turn the light off when you're not using the bathroom?
Covepointcruiser Posted October 30, 2023 #5 Share Posted October 30, 2023 That’s what we did and never had a problem. We plug a small nightlight into the shaver outlet.

It got too hot. We’re doing a B2B and we were in an Infinite Balcony the past 10 days. It was much nicer than this stateroom.

floridatravelersforlife Posted October 30, 2023 #8 Share Posted October 30, 2023 We had this problem on the Infinity in 2015 ' It was so bad that one could smell a smoky odor emanating from the mirror. We asked the front desk to do something about it. Nothing happened, so we then reapproached the front desk and advised we would report the hazard to the US coast guard of a safety violation.. Within two hours a maintenance guy came by and pulled the wire. By the way that Infinity cruise was bad enough we stopped cruising with Celebrity for 6 years. Food quality down, service down, maintenance down, and they lost 15 pieces of laundry for which they offered a pittance of future cruise credit. From what I read on CC it's beconing a rinse and repeat. We cruise with Celebrity today in the suites which are still acceptable.
mrgabriel Posted October 30, 2023 #9 Share Posted October 30, 2023 We’ve sailed in AQ about a dozen times and have never had this issue. I run hot and would have noticed.

I also have cruised Aqua many times and never had an issue. But we turn the lights off when not using the bathroom.

miched Posted October 31, 2023 #12 Share Posted October 31, 2023 When I redid my bathroom I installed a heated fog free mirror. It is a nice touch. It also has a built in night light Happy cruising. 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅
MandL Posted October 31, 2023 Author #13 Share Posted October 31, 2023 (edited) Thank you all for the quick responses. An anti fog mirror shouldn’t be hot to the touch, nor should it act as a heater. In the Aqua Class staterooms we’ve sailed in many of times they did not do this. This is why I put the question out there. 9 hours ago, MandL said: We just switched staterooms to an Aquaclass on the Beyond. Every time we would walk into the bathroom, it was extremely warm. Rare Captain-John Posted October 31, 2023 #14 Share Posted October 31, 2023 Agreed, if it heats the room and is hot to the touch, it's malfunctioning and should be replaced ASAP.

I've had several AQ cabins on E-Class ships that had the same issue. It was annoying especially on a Caribbean itinerary where the ship is in port and it's already very hot outside. I too thought there was a malfunction but it was just the way it is. You're not imagining things nor is your experience unique.
