Refer & Receive

I received the same from the UK. Feels like a step backwards and definitely not something I would refer to friends. Having a wee bit of On board spend feels more personal for your referred friends and a wee discount on your own cruise is nice. ( on that, I had two refer and receive recently ( well May 2023 but got certificates in July) and have not been able to use them towards new cruise according to TA but they have apparently been added to OBc (I wait with baited breath 😂)

I received my certificate about 2 weeks ago and was able to apply it to a final payment due last week.  My TA had to provide them with the certificate number and it was applied.

I agree - this seems like more of a hassle than it's worth.  I liked the old way.

I hope they honour the old offering. I have two 'Refer & Receive' applications accepted but the cruise concerned, for two family members and their partners, isn't until July next year. As they have been accepted, I'd assume the cabin credit has been added to their accounts, but I won't receive the FCC until after the cruise.

Am I wrong, or would the new system cost Azamara a fixed $400, while the old one probably cost them less, because it would be used to buy items with a face value of $450 but a cost value to them of (potentially at least) significantly less?

Maybe the new CFO doesn't like the idea having the slightly variable liabilities on the accounts.

That's a good point, but it wouldn't be that there was variability (the potential liability was always $450 of revenue).  Rather it may be that the liability remained on their accounts and they had to track and account for it (potentially permanently if it does not have an expiry date).

With a 2 x $200 gift card, they incur an immediate expense, but which never needs to be thought of again.

This new offer also doesn’t mention the terms and conditions, which is a little troubling.

The Terms and Conditions of the offer seem now to be available, see attached and on the website here: https://www.azamara.com/b2c/refer-a-friend?loc=fr1699896542724#

I am interested in doing my first cruise ever, possibly with AZAMARA. Anyone on this forum who would like to share a link with me for the referral program? How I understand the T&Cs it is allowed to share. You should be an Azamara cruise passenger to be able to refer a friend

Just before this was announced, a family member booked her first Azamara cruise.  I thought I had 30 days from her booking date to submit the paperwork under the old Referral program and we were traveling so I delayed.  I submitted a request through the Azamara Contact site to ask whether we would be covered under the old program or the new one (and mentioned that she had booked before the new program so I could NOT send her a link as required in the new program.

The response from "Azamara Sales Solutions Team" was quick but it consisted of "Thank you for reaching out! Currently you can not get the R&R until after she sails with us!"

Unfortunately, the terms & conditions state that we would automatically qualify for the VISA card when she paid the deposit, which was already done.  So, they didn't answer my questions or address this catch-22 issue and they mis-stated the Azamara policy.

I've already replied and will continue to pursue this, especially for my family member.  I'm expecting the next communication to recommend that I address this when we board the ship for our next cruise - more than on a year away!

Thanks for letting me know that you were successful in getting this resolved. Perhaps "Refer" will work this out for me.  I board Onward on Tuesday for 24 days. Maybe someone on the ship has a direct line to get this done.

I should probably call this post a "lack of progress" report. Azamara has sent me an email acknowledging our friend's booking - but neither of us has received the $ 200 Visa card.

Stay tuned. Watch this space.😎

An update on my mini-saga on trying to receive the Refer & Receive $200 Visa card. I'm happy that someone at Azamara with a great title is following up on this.😃

I received this email yesterday:

Hi Toni,

Please provide me with the email addresses and reservation ids.

Best wishes,

Reid Esterson / Executive Resolution Specialist

I put forward 2 referrals under the new scheme both of whom have subsequently booked.  Having not heard anything (but knowing they had booked) I emailed refer@azamara.com yesterday.  They replied lunchtime requesting full names and email addresses which was supplied and I’ve just had confirmation that the Visa card has been authorised.

Really pleased with the speed my enquiry was addressed but not quite understanding as to why or where the the new process fell down.

I sent the requested email addresses and reservation IDs and got this email today:

Thank you for providing me this information, Toni.

I’ll be sure to add you and Alan to the program. I’m going to send your information to the third-party vendor on my next batch email to them

Best wishes,

Two weeks since my last post here on this topic.

Hope springs eternal.  It sounds like Reid Esterson is following up on this. Here is today's email:

Hi Toni,

I wanted to circle back with you regarding this gift card. I do have you on our sheet for follow up with the gift card company. As soon as I get confirmation from them, I will be sure to reach out via email. I do hope to have an answer this week. I sincerely apologize for how long it has taken to get you your reward. Please know that I am advocating for the guest and will follow up once I hear back.

Best wishes,

Reid Esterson / Executive Resolution Specialist

All's well that ends well.😄

My $200 Refer & Receive gift card arrived in my inbox this morning. One of the conditions is that you can't use it to buy more than $200 and pay for the rest another way.

I went online to my local supermarket's website and bought a $200 gift card. It will be mailed to me and I can use it easily with no concerns about the amount that is left.

Thanks to Reid Esterson/Executive Resolution Specialist for your persistence.

So what, you may ask, happened to the Visa card for the couple I referred?  Well, after my friend Alan sent Azamara several emails, he received this response:

Hi Alan,

I heard back from our referral team. You will receive your $200 Visa e-gift card when your booking remains uncancelled and is within 90 days before the sailing’s departure date. Please reply with any questions.

Kind regards,

CAROLINE GRAY

Azamara Cruise Expert

Alan and his wife are sailing in October 2024 so they should get their card in early July. Stay tuned.

I’ve never made nor received a referral. Wouldn’t it just be easier to give both parties an OBC?  No “ third parties” or spreadsheets involved. I know I should just appreciate the offer.  But I can’t tolerate the inefficiency of it all

Azamara has been loading so many sale offers recently with OBC that it has reached the point you can't spend it all wisely.  I would much rather have a Visa card that I can use anywhere.
