Rare EllieinNJ Posted November 14, 2023 #1 Share Posted November 14, 2023 We were going to rent golf carts in Catalina Island but after we rented golf carts in Costa Maya two weeks ago, my husband's back was hurting him greatly. Is there anything else to do or see there? The Carnival Radiance excursions do not look interesting.
Northern Aurora Posted November 14, 2023 #2 Share Posted November 14, 2023 Would a visit to the Casino be of interest? Incredible art deco about twelve stories high.
9tee2Sea Posted November 14, 2023 #3 Share Posted November 14, 2023 if the weather permits, do the glass bottom boat tour. You can easily walk the main street. I think the only reason to rent a golf course is if you want to travel around the entire island, up the hills, etc.
ATSEAMYLIFE Posted November 14, 2023 #4 Share Posted November 14, 2023 I think you will find the carts/roads on Catalina a little more back friendly. Keep in mind they are considered vehicles by the CA DMV and you will need your license and proof of insurance, unless you want to put down a large cash deposit in lieu of insurance. They will give you a map with the allowed roads so your not just free to roam. Some of the ships offer excursions to the back country to see the buffalo and some of the former Wrigley estate. Glass bottom boat or the "submarine" are cool.
CoW mAn Posted November 16, 2023 #5 Share Posted November 16, 2023 Honestly there's a fair bit to see and do just walking around

SbbquilterUT Posted November 18, 2023 #7 Share Posted November 18, 2023 We walked to the Casino - can only view the outside. Then walked up to the Botanic Garden - uphill hike that took about 35", it was January but still plenty warm. Views from the garden are lovely. I will be visiting Catalina and the Casino mid January. I am curious as to why you said can only view outside? I thinking to book VIP behind the scene tickets soon. Was it the day you were in Catalina or because no tickets available for walk up purchase?

We had not booked any tour - it was not open for walk in visitors.

Thanks for that confirmation. I was wondering whether to wait on the day but will now book in advance. I found that as well at Iolani Palace in Honolulu, they don't do walk up bookings.
