Sailing on the Ascent in January to celebrate my 60th birthday with my DW!  We booked a concierge guarantee and assigned a "prime concierge" class room.  Any reviews would be appreciated and more information on the veranda would be helpful.  We always book a veranda room but based upon what I see, this new veranda seems odd.  Thanks in advance!!

You are aware of the Concierge lunch on embarkation day, right?

We dined in the Rooftop Garden Grill last night and aside from Eden, was one of our favorites…the star of the show. I will even go so far as to say it was hands down better than the steakhouse.

Looks so good. I have a reservation there for our upcoming cruise.

Now this is weird... anyone else on the ship with an Air Tag? Is it showing your luggage there in France? Ascent came from the boat yard there... but the Air Tag is sitting here in my cabin.

When your phone is in airplane mode, it can't ping a cell tower to determine a location, so it uses the location from the settings on the wifi router, which must have been configured while the ship was in France. The AirTag takes its location from the nearest iPhone, so if your phone thinks it's in France, the AirTag will also think it's in France.

@Georgia_Peaches thanks to your heads up I did head straight to Oceanview Cafe for the lunch extravaganza today and then brought up to retreat bar table. Lobster tails, crawfish, mussels, scallops, goat cheese, asiago cheese, and a hunk of pork loin skin (just nibbled a bit). There were tons of shrimp but I didn't have room. Yum!

Is this kind of "special lunch" a norm or is it just for these preview sailings?

Sorry, lighting is off and pics aren’t good. But I checked and The only thing over $17 is the flight.

Did they take the 25th Anniversary Martini off the menu?  I believe that use to be over the Premium Package limit.

No not at all

By name I would never have even thought of trying it….

but my sister in law who works in a winery …insisted.

well thank you sister in law !

it was light smooth and delicious

Other than Conundrum, it was the only other wine we ordered .

Our sommelier recommended both  as his favourites

I hope the price hasn’t gone up on that one too !

I will try it then as well as Conundrum. Thanks for the recommendations. Boarding Ascent with Premium package on Sunday. If we have to pay the difference on either or both, that is fine. We like Mer Soleil Chardonnay and Bordeau Blend. We don't like heavy red wines or sweet wines although a dry Reisling is fine.

In March it was not on the menu but I was able to order anyway. You're correct, it was a buck or two over the premium limit.

Some of your food pictures you have posted, no way I could eat all of that in one sitting.  I think it's because I tend to be full from drinking.

27 is the forecasted low in Peachtree City tonight.  GA for those who don't know.  Brr...🙂

My mother in law and sister in law live in Peachtree city. They said it’s cold 🥶…..my husband is going down there this weekend. Hope it warms up a bit

I have had the Layer Cake a number of times and it always pleases.

I'm booked in Feb - please tell me more.  We are in Retreat.

A full lunch is always served in Luminae for Retreat guest.  Those sailing in Concierge,  B2B guest, and Zenith cruisers are able to eat lunch in the Main Dining Room on embarkation day.

Winding down with end of cruise blues.. how is it that anticipation of the cruise takes so much longer than the cruise itself?  Not that I don’t enjoy the anticipation too…

We had our one and only dinner in Luminae this evening. Service was great and just as I remember from previous sailings. We shared the turbot and the chicken. Both DH and I had the smoked tomato soup as well. I had the almond cake for dessert while DH had the chocolate tart…which happens to be the same exact chocolate tart that cafe Al Bacio was offering this week only dressed up with some whip cream and chocolate sauce. Food was fine.

After dinner we went to Eden for a last round of Tom the piano man. He’s excellent and if you’re on Ascent any time soon, I highly recommend you look him up.

One more highlight from today…for all you slot players… I rounded out my casino play with a hand pay on the Zeus Orbs machine nearest the exit by Craft Social. I saw a lady get a hand pay from that same machine the day before.

Final thoughts tomorrow…
