Satus match for a spouse?

Hello all,

I apologize if this answer is on this board somewhere.  I could not find this information here nor on their website.

The last time I cruised with Carnival was 2007.  Does Carnival match the status of your spouse?  I know Royal does this, just have no clue about Carnival.

I appreciate any help, thank you.

but... I think i have read in reviews that if you are platinum they can board early with you and that you can bring them as a guest to the special party, right?

Well that's certainly true: all members of your cabin or cabins (if multi-cabin booking for a family) can board together with the earliest priority.  Same for attending P&D parties - that would be harsh: "Sorry honey, I know you're my spouse but you're still only gold, you can't attend this special party for P&Ds. Bye!"

The P&D parties are not what they used to be anyway. Was just on the MG. We are diamonds,

and the invitation said we would each get a drink added to our sail and sign, so one drink each

for attending the party, well we did not go anyway, as we had a casino offer of drinks on us

anywhere on the ship.

Only if the other cabin(s) has/have only minor children.  If the other cabin(s) has/have lower status and at least one adult, they are supposed to board based on the highest status in that cabin, not the highest status in the traveling party or multi-cabin booking.  This isn't always enforced however.

Interesting, I did not know that.  Thanks!

There used to be no written rule either way, but it got out of hand with some Plats and Diamonds trying to bring everybody and their mother through priority boarding.

For a while, people thought if you booked everyone under one credit card, everyone got the shared priority access including entry into the Captain's Club waiting area.  Then people crowded the desk to separate sail and sign accounts.

That was when Carnival physically swiped the credit card backing your S&S at check-in.  Once Carnival moved credit card registration to online check in, there was no longer the need for multiple cabins on the same credit card to check in together, so they could close that loophole.

It was after that.  You could enter your card on line or you could opt to wait until at port. It was when Priority Boarding became a thing and not just first in the door to get a number.

I turned Platinum a few cruises ago but my husband was gold.  He was allowed to board with me.  On this past cruise this month he was going to turn Platinum sometime during the sailing so they gave him the new status at the beginning of the sailing.

If you are in the same stateroom, you can board with the highest VIFP.  You always get the status increase on the first day if you turn during the cruise.

I'm platinum and the hubs is gold.  He actually gets most of my perks.  Priority boarding, laundry, P/D reception, priority dining reservations, priority disembarkation. He gets a free drink, I get a free drink. The only thing I can think he doesn't get is the priority GS line.  As long as you're in the same cabin as a platinum, you basically get the same perks.
