tigger54 Posted December 4, 2023 #1 Share Posted December 4, 2023 Just a quick question. We will be leaving on the Enchantment Friday for a 10 day cruise. This is our 2nd time on Princess but that was way before Covid. Will the MDR Be open for lunch on embankment day? Also this ship is coming from Europe. Will embankment be later than usual for us in Ft. Lauderdale? We haven’t gotten a letter telling us so as of yet. Thank you
Rare Coral Posted December 4, 2023 #2 Share Posted December 4, 2023 The first time the ship arrives in the US after being in Europe (or wherever) for a season, the ship has to go inspections and I believe the crew also have to go through something as well (immigration, checks of visas). I expect embarkation to be delayed. Usually there is one dining room open for lunch on the first day from 12 - 1:30 or so. @chengkp75 Can explain exactly what they go through. MissP22 Posted December 4, 2023 #3 Share Posted December 4, 2023 Those inspections can really slow down the boarding process. We tend to avoid those cruises when at all possible.

It will show you the boarding timeframe and the sail time. We just go early and board when they allow us to board. The lunch is usually midship 6 MDR 12-130pm. Because of inspections, we have boarded late, but you won’t know that ahead of time. Too many variables.
Rare BamaVol Posted December 4, 2023 #5 Share Posted December 4, 2023 As I understand it, MDR lunch will be served 12-1:30 regardless of when they let the first passengers aboard. That might shorten the window some. My routine is to get a drink first and then head for the MDR.
