Transportation to the cruise port from Southhampton hotel

Leonardo (and all other hotels) does NOT have shuttles to pier.  Ask at either the desk or the Concierge to arrange a cab for the next morning for you.  We asked for 1000 and they recommended 915 for an 1100 port time.  That said, the cab was 45 minutes late and people walking along the pier road to the QEII pier were walking faster than he could drive.  Next time we might just walk the mile.  The people using Uber were having as much problem as we were getting picked up.

We did like this hotel for access to the mall - lots of food options.  No soda machines.  Around a 20 minute walk to the train station if you want to take the train to Salisbury and Stonehenge.  Nice indoor swimming pool.

From time to time various city centre hotels offer a shuttle to cruise terminals, but this has always seemed to be just a free taxi ride.

I'm not aware of any city centre hotel which currently offers it, or has done so since the pandemic.

As @LeeW 's post, the Leonardo Royal Grand Harbour is very well-placed close to the modern city shops & West Quay Mall and the old town / waterfront.

Walkable even with rolling luggage to City Cruise Terminal (unless adverse weather changes your plans) and no more than a 10-minute £10 taxi ride to any of the city's five cruise terminals.

When there are several same-day sailings it can take a while to get a taxi, so book one the day before - the hotel can help.

Book a fixed-price "Private Hire" taxi, not a "Hackney Carriage" metered taxi. Meters combine distance & time, and if the traffic is clogged (usually a saturday) the meter can climb even for the short distance to a cruise terminal.

Great info JB and others as well.  Will probably take an Uber to the cruise port based on all the input and look forward to enjoying a relaxing day in Southampton on the day prior to the cruise.

Thank you for this info. We must have lucked out with our cab driver. At least the hotel made the right call when they phoned for a cab.
