Sargassum currently?

Anyone know the current sargassum situation in the  W. Caribbean right now? Going to Costa Maya especially concerns me.

Winter months are minimally impacted by sargassum.  This winter so far has been remarkably clear on our coasts and my friends in Playa have been reporting very minimal deposits, beaches are essentially clear...

I agree it is generally low at this time of year but @jean87510 reported some presence last week at Hayhu which obviously wasn’t too bad as she said it got cleared.

 

Of course, Hayhu and independent clubs south of town don’t benefit from the offshore baffles.

 

you will see whether it is prolific while you are sailing and as you approach the shore and can determine than how bad it might be.

I was just at Costa Maya, and this was barely a topic of conversation.   I wouldn't worry about it.
