Goodbye to French Polynesia

We are supposed to have high swells tonight and tomorrow due to Cyclone Nat.  We might have to skip our next 2 ports.  Tomorrow is a sea day.  Captain says we will see what happens.

There is a Town Hall meeting tomorrow at 10:00 with Captain and Massimo.  They will share changes and information about our World Cruise itinerary.  The wait is almost over!

You are not going through Suez but rather around Africa.

This morning email.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING YOUR CRUISE ITINERARY

Dear Valued World Cruise Guest,

I hope you are having a fantastic 2024 World Cruise on board Seven Seas Mariner. It is our privilege to be your host on this wonderful voyage and I thank you for choosing to embark on such an incredible journey with Regent Seven Seas Cruises.

I personally write to you today so that you are the first to know about changes to your itinerary.

We have been closely monitoring the situation in the Red Sea and wider region and have decided to modify your current 2024 World Cruise.

Seven Seas Mariner will now sail around Africa instead of transiting the Suez Canal.

We appreciate that there may be some disappointment in these necessary changes, however we feel that the new itinerary that our teams have worked hard to secure will offer fascinating, once-in-a-lifetime experiences in destinations such as the Seychelles, Madagascar, South Africa, Namibia and the Ivory Coast to name just a few.

The newly modified itinerary is displayed in full below, and we will be in contact as soon as new shore excursions and overland tours have been confirmed.

Please review the important information below and attend a special briefing with Seven Seas Mariner’sCaptain and General Manager in the Constellation Theater at 10.00AM, today.

Disembarkation – Action Required

As a result of the itinerary modification the 2024 World Cruise will now be extended with a choice of disembarkation dates:

·          Option 1: Stay on board for an additional four days than was originally scheduled, and disembark in Lisbon, Portugal, on May 21.

·          Option 2: Stay on board for an additional 16 days than was originally scheduled and disembark in New York on June 2.

The additional days on board are complimentary and will be at no extra cost to you.

A disembarkation questionnaire will be delivered to your suite later today - please let us know your preferred disembarkation date by completing the form and delivering it to Reception by February 15.

Guests with a Regent Cruise Package with Air

If you booked a Regent cruise package with air, once you have advised us of your preference, our teams will arrange your flights to return home. You do not need to contact your Travel Advisor as Regent will provide your final schedule with your Travel Advisor.

Guests with Independent Air Arrangements

Unfortunately, we cannot make changes to an airline reservation not made by Regent and guests with an independent air program will need to make the necessary arrangements themselves.

Regent will reimburse for any reasonable air change fee assessed by the airlines, if not covered by the guest’s travel insurance.

Guests with independent air arrangements will need to submit receipts of any reasonable air change fee to our Guest Relations department online via www.rssc.com/post-cruise-inquiry-form. Please note that any hotel stays or incidentals will be at guest’s own cost - please refer to your travel insurance provider to verify if such expenses would be covered under “Trip Delay”.

Guests from South Florida without Air

For guests who reside in South Florida and have not purchased air, please advise your disembarkation preference and provide any insurance coverage you may have. Regent will then arrange and book your airline tickets, providing any necessary receipts for reimbursement from your travel insurance provider.

Visa & Yellow Fever Vaccination Requirements

Our teams are currently working with our local partners to establish what Visas are required for the countries we will now be traveling to.

Regent will cover the cost for any new Visas or that guests require to sail Seven Seas Mariner’s modified 2024 World Cruise.

In addition, we are clarifying which countries may require proof of a Yellow Fever vaccination to be able to visit.

We will provide all relevant information and any required action on the part of guests as soon as possible.

World Cruise Event / Pre-Booked Overland Tour & Regent Choice Shore Excursion Refunds

The final World Cruise Event which was scheduled to take place in Malaga will be rescheduled and a new destination, date and venue being communicated as soon as possible.

Any pre-booked Regent overland tours or Regent Choice shore excursions which have been canceled due to the modified itinerary will be refunded to guests automatically in the form of shipboard credits which can be used to purchase spa treatments, items in the ship’s boutique, a special bottle from the Connoisseur Wine Menu or shore excursion experiences. Any unused balance will be refunded back to guests approximately 30 days after disembarkation.

Any guests with private shore experience arrangements should refer to their travel insurance provider.

On behalf of the entire Regent Family, thank you for your continued patronage, loyalty, and understanding in this difficult and fluid situation. I truly hope you enjoy the rest of your time onboard the 2024 World Cruise.

Sincerely,

Andrea DeMarco

That certainly looks like a fair and reasonable change.  Attaboy to Regent.

It may be fair to those on the World cruise but we were on the Miami to NYC cruise May 17 to Jun 2 that has now been cancelled. I understand that they can't go through the Suez Canal. Regent's offer to us was a full refund......or 30% off one of the 3 "new" itineraries. On top of that there is no comission protection for a Travel Agent. No "attaboy" from me to Regent.

Sorry, but what did you expect them to do? Seems fair to me although I can't speak about the TA commissions.

What I expected were more options for another cruise and possible price protection. The "new" itineraries start in Abu Dhabi, Cape Town and Lisbon. Our cruise was Miami to New York.

They had to reroute around the Red Sea and the Suez Canal...takes time to go around Africa.

I get that and said that in my original post. My comment was about the offered compensation and the ability to use the 30% on an itinerary other than the 3 newly created itineraries.

I agree, Regent could have expanded the 30% rebooking offer.

I feel really bad for those whose cruises were cancelled and for the World Cruisers whose trip of a lifetime turned upside down. For once things went in my favor.  I board in Sydney and disembark in Abu Dhabi.  I look forward to meeting many of you when I get home on.

I don't think they're online yet.

Thanks!  Wow...some pretty interesting cruises!  I assume they haven't given any prices yet?

Not publicly that I know of. We're 1st time Regent cruisers after many years on both Celebrity and RCI. I definitely understand the why behind the changes but Regent's offer is not one to make me want to book something else.

The sales agent on board Mariner (Eddie) had no pricing and was unable to book these new segments this afternoon.

They will be available on the 13th, I believe.

I understand your disappointment, but have to say, this was not unique to Regent, all the cruise lines did similar cancellations.  Why not just look for a similar itinerary? There are lots of cruises that go to the Caribbean islands that were on your original.  So really nothing that unique.  Why not just book one of those?
