Unlimited Wi-Fi pricing ever go on sale?

 Share

Recommended Posts

Hi

We currently get 150 mins of Wi-Fi.  To upgrade to unlimited Wi-Fi, the cost is currently $109.93 on a 7 day cruise.

Does this price ever get lower?  Just wondering if I should go ahead and book it now as my sailing is in April.

Thank you!

It won't go down. But if it did, you would just cancel and re-buy.

I think you are locked out of the unlimited price if you start using your 150 minutes. I had to ask nicely once to get them to give me the unlimited price since I had already used some of my minutes in the Free at Sea.

These days I just skip the first day, don't use it at all and just use my phone and buy the unlimited on the 2nd day after midnight when I see the price drop. It also uses my non-refundable onboard credit. There's only a short time after leaving port and after midnight when I won't have Internet.

No.
NCL is not like Royal who floods your email with the Sale Sale Sale emails daily from the day you book to the day you depart…. Really annoying.

There are a very very very few people who try to game the system and upgrade on Day 2. And those who want to do it, but do it wrong or forget to do it and end up paying full price.

We never do the Day 2 thing. Not worth the effort for us (and we sail 6 times a year). And for ports like Miami, parked next to a 6000 passenger oasis class ship and 6 other ships in port,,, the slow satellite WiFi is often faster than the cell service.

@julig22 and @mistertomatoe are right - don't use the package at all on day 1 and get a lower price on day 2.  I'm trying to figure out my purchase timing on my upcoming 15 day cruise...

According to IAcruising's post above, if you were to add back the cost of day one (so you actually do not have to restrain yourself from using the internet until you can upgrade on day 2) the savings is a whopping $5 for the week.

Total saved is about $20 for the week; probably about the same for your 15 day. Per person, of course.

Huh? You got the $20 for the week correct. Where does "whopping $5 for the week" come from?

Thank you, locked out if you start using your minutes is the information I've been looking for - and suspected! Lots of posts regarding upgrading but pretty vague answers, not the specifics with respect to using minutes or not.

Said it right in my post.

You get it by adding back the cost of the first day - so you can actually start using your access immediately and not waiting until after midnight.

Uh, OK - cost of first day is $109, waiting until midnight is $89. Don't see any $5 in that.

Actually, original price comes to $15.70 per day. Less the $20 savings, difference is $4.30 + your forfeited potential usage.

We're sailing next Friday and I am upgrading day 1 for two. Just don't want to be bothered with playing around for that little.

Notice that the Birds don't play with it either.

Good to know if I wait until after midnight, I can upgrade for less cost.  Can we do the upgrade on the app or do we need to go to the internet desk for the upgrade on Day 2?

All in the app. I see the price change and that's when I purchase it.

Since I have little or no need for WiFi on day 1, upgrading on day 2, if I even upgrade (FAS minutes are usually enough) works for me. I'd rather spend the $20 in the casino LOL.

Yup, much of day 1 is spent in port where you have cellular coverage on the outside decks.  For the <6 hours you'd make use of it on embarkation day it's just not worth the $20 to get it that day.

You probably have better odds at the casino too.

taking advantage of a lower price is gaming the system?

i'm confused. are you suggesting that cell service is somehow affected by the number of mega ships in port and by the number of passengers?

cell service?

The OP made an inquiry.

As usual , there are a variety of responses.

All of a sudden, opinions here - even those that differ among us commenters - is a problem?

No problem if folks want to save a few dollars and hold back on their internet use for 12 hours (or perhaps a bit less).

For those who really would rather get connected on day 1, the small savings is certainly not worth the extra wrangling.

A different WiFi Internet question.   We have 4 of us (wife and I and 2 adult working sons) in a cabin for 7 days.  2 sons use internet for occasional work.

In our package wife and I each get WiFi (Standard level) for 150 minutes.    Can we upgrade one of the two to Premium Unlimited and one to Standard Unlimited?    Also can 2 people share each of those plans by signing off and other signs in?  If I upgrade to Premium Unlimited, can my son register and sign in as the main person and he share with his brother.   And then my wife and I share the Standard?

I did share 1 plan on HAL with wife, but unsure on NCL.

Confusing, I know.  But appreciate any help.  Thanks
