Home from 24 days on Onward - with Covid

Boarded on 12/12/23 and disembarked on 1/5/24. I felt queasy and tired on the last day of the cruise. We drove home on Friday (1/5/24) and called my doctor's office. They suggested I get tested for Flu and Covid at the Urgent Care associated with Sarasota Memorial Hospital. They called me early Saturday morning to tell me I had Covid. (I have had 4 inoculations and 2 boosters.) Spent the last two days with fever, chills, headaches, and vomiting. Feeling just plain tired this morning and I've started to eat again.

If someone reading this is on the world cruise, could you let our cabin attendant (Agung) cabin 7049 know that he has been exposed to Covid. My husband is fine so far and maybe Agung will be too.

Ugh. So sorry you are sick. COVID numbers are up all over, from what I understand.

You might want to contact Azamara to alert them

So sorry to hear you got Covid and from the timing sounds like onboard could well have been the source

Get well soon!

Azamara was notified. But knowing this board, I think Agung might find out more quickly from a Cruise Critic board member.

Covid and the vaccine is opening a bucket of worms, which I shall not begin to do again. DW came down with the new covid shortly after her surgery this past summer and sadly, I a physician learned that stomach/gastro-intestinal symptoms have become very common as a post covid condition. Most resolve fairly quickly, in some people the nausea can last weeks or months, and in others... If your nausea resolves quickly, great. If it does not, contact your doctor, and you might want to consult a GI specialist to look for other possible problems that could be serious. Otherwise, welcome to the brave new world. Other than that, hope the cruise was fun and that your covid wasn't particularly serious.

Sorry to hear it!    So far so good here. I have been closely paying attention. And I know that you had plans with people after the cruise.    Get well soon please.   I so enjoyed getting to know you better this cruise.    - Allison

Toni so sorry to read you came home with Covid.  After reading your post we both tested and they came back negative, thankfully.  I do appreciate you letting those of us from the cruises know.

On the other side it was so nice to meet you, finally, near the end of the cruise.  Wish it had been sooner.

Take care and hopefully you are over this soon.

I guess it was inevitable. My husband John has tested positive as well.

We have a pharmacy that will deliver, which is good because Sarasota is expecting a big storm in a few hours.

Our wonderful friends have made sure we have lots of food and treats in the house. It would be nice to feel like eating again. All in good time, I guess.

Thanks to everyone for your care and concern. We did get to see lots of great people on the cruise.

Sorry to hear that you were sick when you got home Toni. Never a nice way to end your trip. I hope you enjoyed your time on the ship though. Unfortunately Covid is still out there and all we can do is try to keep ahead of it and get the boosters. Hopefully your cabin steward is ok. It's weird the transmission of it. My other half had it and I never got sick.

Hoping you are on the mend.

Hi Toni, I’m currently on Onward and a short time ago I showed your post to one of the nurses in the medical centre.  He read it thoroughly and thanked me for sharing it with him.  He advised there were no known cases of Covid on Onward at this time.  He also noted that based on your timeline anyone else onboard would have displayed symptoms by now unless they were asymptomatic.  I hope you and your husband are feeling better soon.  Take care, Paul

Speaking of “care and concern”, I am so impressed with how you have demonstrated those qualities, after leaving Onward.

A terrific example and reassuring for those of us who might become rather cynical in these times. Thanks for posting,

Hope your recovery is speedy and complete.

Thank you. Your words really touched me.❤️

If we don't care "for" and "about" each other, who will?
