Any way to withdraw OBC?

Hi all,

 

On MSC there were a few workarounds that allowed you to withdraw OBC through the casino.

Do P&O have any ways to withdraw it?

Any OBC that remains on your account and not spent come the end of the cruise will be lost.

Not bad CarlaMarie! Will give fuller report on return 👌. Think with MSC you loaded it all into the casino and then you could withdraw it all as cash from the casino. Was so handy when you didn't intend spending it all

Looking forward to your report. I had no idea that was even possible! Amazing how different lines have their different ways of doing things.

All I could suggest is buy goods from the shops and put them on eBay/Vinted or the like when you are home.

Great shout! We have £200 OBC and half way through the cruise we've spent £20 😱 Sindhu and Beach house booked though so that'll help

You can use it to buy bottles of spirits from the duty free shop to take home at the end of the cruise .

I think the allowance is 4 litre bottles per couple. That should take care of around £100. Pack well in your suitcase though!!

Agree, even overpriced tat is better than losing it. We bought a job lot of big toblerones before we left Aurora in October, guess what everyone got for Crimbo?

Like everyone else has suggested you can spend it on your drinks, speciality dining, items in the shops (even for presents) spa treatments, and the duty free shop etc...

I think you will find you cannot use obc in the casino at all on P&O.

 

My thoughts are to hit the jewellers, but I would like more than £200 in total for that.  We have just over £1,050 for our 19 night cruise in April/May as well as another £150 share benefit obc.  I am hoping on a good part of that as a present, since it is a very big anniversary celebration for us, that tanzanite pendant  looks like a real possibility 🙂

 

Watches are always worth looking at, as well as hand bags, perfume, duty free bottles and chocolate.  Start thinking presents and it will go very quickly if there is nothing you want yourself.

The allowance is higher since Brexit.  It's 4 litres per person of spirits or strong liqueurs (as well as 42 litres of beer and 18 litres of still wine, not that anyone could carry all that).  The 4 litres of spirits each is a great way of using up some OBC for people who have their cars parked in Southampton.  But it's not very practical for someone like myself who has a long journey home on buses and trains.

We board Azura next week for 14 nights and have £880 to spend.OH is worrying how we are going to spend it🙄 It is also my birthday while on board so hopefully will I find something nice.

The cruise price was on the high side though, prices vary, but often offers of high onboard spend are the thing at the time, rather than good prices.  We booked that cruise onboard a ship as well, when you get an extra obc added.  The real difference though is that they had an offer of double obc on specific cruises, which also coincided with a time when obc was high.

I am surprised they had any, pretty much sold out when we left, early October and Mon in stock room.

 

That is another point, we had spent most of our obc in good time, then popped back the last night to spend the last bit and the stock of chocolate was almost non existent, so do not leave it too late.  Even some duty free spirits do sell out, though others will still be available, if you are not fussy on brand.

That is always the problem when people have lots of OBC, when we bought our toblerones there was a shelf full of several flavours, some of which I never new existed, there were not many left on the last couple of nights. It was the same with the booze, when it was announced we were not docking at Gibraltar there were massive queues forming at the duty free and by the end of the day duty free was almost empty. Lots of complains then from those who were waiting for a discount towards the end of the cruise or waiting to see how much OBC they had left. As they say "You snooze you lose"

These last few comments just go to show that OBC works in the favour of the cruise line rather than the passenger. The point is that the majority of OBC is your own money so when you buy something to use it up you are in effect buying something just for the sake of buying it.

 

Much rather that the price was reduced in the first place or that P&O do as Princess do and have refundable and non refundable OBC - that way if you don't have to spend it all.

We have never had OBC. It has never seemed worth it to us. P & O are crafty, they now reduce prices of drinks packages, speciality dining so it encourages people to buy before they board.  They then use it up buying goods on the ship they didn’t actually want or need at an inflated mark up. P & O are usually the winners. 
it would be fairer if you could use credit before you sail as other cruise lines do. Better still just reduce the price.

Well that's one way to look at it, but we booked our October cruise on board and got £520 OBC and freeparking.  As our drinks bill having one large wine each and a bottle with dinner came to £570, we will be quids in!!  I never buy anything in the shops.  As someone said it's tat.

You didn't "get" anything - you paid for it as part of the price

We didn't spend all of ours. We tried in the shop on the last evening, but could find anything for 37p.🤣

Well not really, as if I had waited until I got home to book, it would have been the same price just without that OBC
