bar1068 Posted January 15 #1 Share Posted January 15 It's been a while since we last booked a guarantee cabin, but have one booked for next month. I get the pitfalls and gotchas or whatever when booking a GTY, but what I'm curious about is assuming Carnival does not assign our cabin on embarkation day, how will they notify us when a cabin is assigned, will we get an email notification? I've been stalking our booking since we booked it to see if a cabin number pops up. We originally were wait listed for YTD, but received email that our YTD dining time was confirmed, just curious will we see email once cabin is assigned, I just can't recall how it went in the past. PinaCarada Posted January 15 #2 Share Posted January 15 We booked a guaranteed interior for my dad for the Dec. 29-Jan. 2 Radiance cruise. We booked about 3 weeks out and within a few days, they assigned his cabin. He didn't get an email notification - I just kept refreshing his booking every day or so and saw that it popped up. jsglow Posted January 15 #3 Share Posted January 15 No email. You'll just see a cabin number appear on your Booking page. Another quick way to check is to 'print' some luggage tags. It'll morph from TBA to a cabin #. In my experience, assignment most typically happens 2-4 weeks out from the cruise. YMMV, but we've always been assigned prior to leaving home for our flights so I've always been able to print proper tags. Enjoy your cruise. StephPS79 Posted January 15 #4 Share Posted January 15 I called last week to add a booking for Celebration 2/25/2024, booked a guarantee interior. I checked the next day and had a room assigned. Got assigned a Cloud 9 Spa interior, so not upset about that. No email, I was just went to look at a few things in cruise manager and saw it assigned. Granted, the sailing was in under 45 days, but it only took one day to get a room number in this case.
Colorado Beach Bum Posted January 15 #5 Share Posted January 15 Family member wasn’t assigned a cabin on Panorama until 36 hours before sailing last week. Like others, just saw it in their booking details.

Thanks for reminding me of that...printing the luggage tags...just tried...still TBA!! Sure hope we don't get the Royal Caribbean treatment!! We're still about 4 weeks out...hopefully soon!! PayneAS Posted January 15 #7 Share Posted January 15 The last cruise I did, I was finally assigned my cabin the Friday before a Sunday sailing. There has only been one time I arrived at a terminal to check in that I still hadn't been assigned a cabin. The Port of New Orleans had to call Miami and figure out what happened. They let me on the ship but I spent 5 hours lugging my bags around while they tried to find a spot for me. They called me on my cell phone from Miami to tell me what cabin number I was finally assigned and I had to go to guest services to check in after I hung up. It was crazy. But at least I ended up being given a balcony cabin for my troubles.
Journey11 Posted January 15 #8 Share Posted January 15 Family member booked a guarantee cabin once. Cabin wasn’t assigned until a day before sailing. We just wrote the cabin number on the printed luggage tags.
mets07 Posted January 15 #9 Share Posted January 15 Ours was assigned about 2 months or a little more prior to sailing. No email as mentioned above. Best wishes.
jemrtt Posted January 15 #10 Share Posted January 15 (edited) Our gty balcony cabin was assigned 36 hours prior to sailing on Panorama. We purchased the trip through Carnival’s website, 10 weeks prior to sailing. We didn’t get an email. I also kept stalking our cruise manager until it showed. How did they let you on the ship, were you able to print a boarding pass without having a cabin assigned, set up an onboard account?

Yes, you check in online and print your boarding pass and all that just like normal. The room number just says TBA instead of giving you an actual room number. They won't let you check your luggage with a TBA tag though. The arrival check-in process was somewhat of a nightmare. They kept sending me to one supervisor after another until one was able to handle the situation. She was able to check me in but they still weren't able to assign me a room. They jotted down my cell phone number, told me I could get on the ship, and the Miami main office would call when they figured out what room I had. The bad part about being on the ship with no room assigned for five hours is that I couldn't get any drinks from the bar because I couldn't muster. No room assignment = no muster station. Not to mention having to drag my luggage all over. 35 minutes ago, Elaine5715 said: Porters have a list of cabin numbers. I didn't have a cabin assigned so the porters had no cabin number for me. I went to two different porters who looked me up on their little handheld devices and no cabin and they sent me on to the porter supervisor who had no success either. She escorted me inside to the even higher-ups. Luckily they said that mine was a rare case so it isn't anything most people will have to worry about. Jasukkie Posted January 16 #14 Share Posted January 16 GTY cabins aren't actually guaranteed. We were made to sit outside and wait. We did eventually get on but staff said sometimes people don't make it on. Never again.

Even after years of reading various complaints on CC, I have never, ever heard of anyone with guarantee cabin not eventually being assigned one. Has anyone else?
