map92 Posted January 20 #1 Share Posted January 20 We will be in St Thomas in February and would like to go to St John but our cruise has sold out of the excursion we want. Any suggestions on how to do this with a guarantee to get back to shop on time? TIA!

Any suggestions on how to do this with a guarantee to get back to shop on time? TIA! Taxi to Red Hook say 30 minutes Ferry crossing time - 20 minutes (just miss 1 wait 30 minutes) = max of 50 minutes Ride fro Cruz Bay to Beaches - say 15 minutes (disembarking and taxi wait say 5 minutes) Ride back to ship - 40 minutes (heavy traffic) Best to allow a comfortable 2 hours there and 2.5 hours back Book tickets online as the ticket office queue may be long, plus ship you aim for may sell out Link https://stjohnticketing.com/schedules/

None..... you are dealing with water, weather and boats. @PORT ROYAL has is right, my wife and I have done it a number of times. On our last cruise we had a family who missed the ferry they needed to catch to make it to the ship on time. They ended up finding a local private water taxi. It was over $500
schmoopie17 Posted January 20 #4 Share Posted January 20 (edited) Guaranteed? Some say nothing is guaranteed in life except death, taxes and long lines at Syd's. Edited January 20 by schmoopie17 1
KarimaJ Posted January 24 #5 Share Posted January 24 We did just what Port Royal said. Our port time was 9:00-7:00 so plenty of buffer time. We got on the 10:00 ferry, stayed on the beach for a couple Hours and got on the 2:00 or 3:00 ferry heading back. Plenty of cushion as far as time goes. lakelivin2 Posted January 24 #6 Share Posted January 24 I'm planning to try this and I was wondering, are there taxis or shuttles at Cruz Bay that take you to various beaches? Are they regular? Approximate cost of shuttle or taxi please? Thank you.
Ms411 Posted January 24 #7 Share Posted January 24 There are plenty of taxis at Cruz Bay. The cost to Trunk is $9 per person each way, and there are taxis at Trunk waiting to take you back to the Cruz Bay ferry dock.
Wishing on a star Posted January 25 #8 Share Posted January 25 You might check when you first board. I understand some ships will not sell out every spot beforehand. We did our ship's excursion to spend time on Trunk Bay. These are very convenient, but usually leave only a very short time at the destination. Rare philv Posted January 26 #9 Share Posted January 26 Last February we were in St Thomas docked at Havensight from 10 am to 10 pm. We went to Maho beach on St John. Took taxi to Red Hook and ferry then taxi to Maho beach and back. Plenty of time on this itinerary but not sure I’d do it on shorter itinerary.
