I understand from another social media site that the ship is staying in Portsmouth until Monday morning to avoid an incoming storm.  Shuttles have been provided to visit local attractions.

Anyone onboard or know why she's  still in Portsmouth?

Something is going on after the last cruise's itinerary changed quite dramatically.

Storm that's what's going on! 😀

This is the 9th named storm since September

There is a severe storm forecast for Biscay ( force 10!)  so the captain has delayed sailing. In view of recent experience with SofD probably a wise decision.

Thank you. I was thinking they could have got ahead of the storm. Seas didn't look very high but they will be tomorrow judging by the howling outside.

Due out of Portsmouth @10.00am on route to Funchal according to Port Schedule.

On our way nearly two days late. Ship moving a bit but not excessively. Expect captain to make announcement later re itinerary. Speculation is that we will miss out Funchal and sail straight to La Palma, with rest of itinerary unchanged.

My crystal ball says you'll miss Lanzarote

Looking at three different AIS systems and all show the same. No sign of any horrendous weather on the original planned route over the next few days and it's an unlikely manoeuvre for a medical emergency. If it carries on like this, the ship could be back in Portsmouth early tomorrow morning!

We will wait and see and, for the sake of the passengers,... we will hope for the best.

One of the passengers has posted on another site that Captain has announced there is a technical issue with the generator. SofA returning to UK to get it checked out.

That would explain these manoeuvres and the speed.

Feel very sorry for the passengers.

This is correct. At approx 10:35 yesterday evening the captain announced that there had been a fault on one of the ships generators. This had been rectified but he needed to get it checked before venturing into Biscay. He had taken the decision to return to the UK coast for this to be done. So we woke up this morning off the coast of Dorset, almost back where we started. He announced an hour or so ago that the checks should be completed this morning, when a further announcement would be made. Even if we set sail immediately we will have lost nearly three days of our cruise and probably at least two ports.

Sorry to hear that, but thanks for the update. Saga being Saga, though, I’m guessing they’ll do the right thing by you financially. Not remotely what you wanted, or expected, but perhaps at least some small consolation.
