dolphin5057 Posted January 27 #1 Share Posted January 27 Hi, we had our family cruise booked since last year. My dad passed away suddenly before Christmas and its been rough. Do I tell Carnival that he passed away or let it go? The room is his name with my mom , we are all still going to go because he would want us to go. Thank you
Rare shof515 Posted January 27 #2 Share Posted January 27 you can let it go and leave the booking alone. when it comes time to board the ship, it will be a no show if do remove him from the booking, the booking pricing will be adjusted which may be a good or bad thing. do a mock booking to get an idea of any pricing changes

NYcruzzer Posted January 27 #4 Share Posted January 27 So sorry for your loss. Wouldn't your mom get a refund of your dads port taxes and any other pre-pays if you cancel his half of the reservation ?

The only reason to tell Carnival would be if you have travel insurance.
Rare BlerkOne Posted January 27 #6 Share Posted January 27 Sounds like it is booked under a casino offer. Technically the person with the offer is required to sail.

Just show up and your mom can board.

If you cancel him off, you will lose the rate that was tied to him. Once they figure out he didn't board, the port fees and taxes will get refunded, but it will not impact the rate. I hope you're able to enjoy your cruise and time w/your family.

Rare sparks1093 Posted January 27 #12 Share Posted January 27 My condolences to you and your family. It is a good thing that you are going because he would wish you to go. Honor his memory further by having a great time as he would want you to do that as well (even though it will be very hard to do). I agree with not notifying Carnival before hand.

Since the OP didn't make the booking they very likely won't even talk to him, anyway. They would need to talk to mom, if they talked to anyone at all and I wouldn't want to put her through that at this juncture.

True but Carnival guidelines are very clear when it comes to the Person who booking is made under having to sail, pricing can change if the person who the offer was for is not sailing. I for one would hate to have them "show up" as everyone is suggesting and them being told they wont be allowed to board. Showing up is fine if the person who cancelled is NOT the person the booking is under. Not so fine otherwise.

There is a big difference between no show for 2nd passenger vs main passenger.

Beav1279 Posted January 27 #23 Share Posted January 27 I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my dad less than a year ago and it sucks. I would err on the side of caution and just tell the truth to Carnival or your travel agent. I would hate for you all to be at the port on sailing day and get turned away.
