What should one tip on the UBD experience? 20%?

Thank you

Whatever you feel is appropriate, given the service you receive

Some tip $20 per server, some tip $50, some don't tip extra, some top $10, and so forth.

Entirely at your discretion...

Aren't passengers automatically charged 18.5%?

They used to say the gratuity was included when it was $100.  Then, sometime later, it increased to $110.  In the last year, we’ve seen the 18% gratuity added on the folio.  Of course, no notice.  It just appears.  Same with SD, it just appears on the folio.  So, we now take that into account, when tipping.  I’ve noticed a difference on ships.  Not much consistency.

We gave the server $40 and his assistant $20.  They definitely earned it.

That is very impressive (and kind of you), considering Australia is a non- gratuity culture. I have read so many compliments about the UBD.

We're atypical for Australia.  Crew members work hard for comparatively little money, and it clearly delights them when we give them personal tips.  Apologies to other Aussies for wrecking the curve.

I love seeing crew members light up when we recognize their honest efforts on n individual basis.
