Purchasing Wine and Beer

We are staying in Australia for a week before boarding a cruise to New Zealand. I was wondering if beer and wine are sold in grocery stores, or if they must be purchased at a store that only sells these products.

Aldi has in-store sale of alcohol(limited range but good prices), but generally, it is sold through pubs and liquor stores.

As above, Aldi & some independent grocers sell alcohol instore but you won't have trouble finding bottlle o's (liquor stores) anywhere in Oz

In the Sydney area Coles supermarkets have liquorland within the same building or immediately adjacent, selling beer, wine & spirits.

Most of our supermarkets have an affiliated liquor store adjacent.

Woolworths will have a BWS

Coles will have a Liquorland.

 

If you have a Dan Murphy's close to where you are staying, you will have maximum choice.

Have you checked the rules for your cruise line on bringing wine and beer on board?  Beer will probably be prohibited, wine may incur a large "corkage" charge, maybe up to $30 per bottle.  It varies from one cruise line to another, so you need to check the fine print.  The rules have been tightened up post Covid on most lines.

I think the OP just want some wine and beer precruise, for the week at a Sydney Hotel room.

Thanks for answering my questions .I am not planning on taking any alcohol aboard the ship.
