Celebrity Edge Class compared to Sphere Class on Princess

My wife and I are planning to take a 7-day cruise to the Caribbean.  We have been looking at the Sun Princess (Sphere Class) compared to the Celebrity Edge.  We have sailed on both of these lines extensively, but never on these two classes of ships.

On Princess we would book Reserve Class Mini Suite, and on Celebrity we usually book either Concierge Class or Aqua Class.

Which would be the better choice.

No one knows about the sphere sips since none has actually sailed yet

@memoak is spot on.  We won’t know much until people start reporting back to us.

However, I can tell you about Celebrity Edge class ships.  We sailed on Ascent over New Years, which is the newest of this class and Edge is the first ship of this class.  We love them!

We’re Elite+ so we’ve sailed on all classes over the years and prefer Edge class.  Very innovative design with all the favourites from the earlier ships.  So many places to go for entertainment.  And, the casino is non smoking, which is huge for us!  Princess casinos are all smoke filled and I can’t even go in there.  Cabins are amazing with the best bathrooms.  Huge walk in shower with glass walls.  Princess is still using the small stalls with shower curtains.

However, the new Princess Sphere class ships may be fabulous.  Just don’t know enough about them yet.  If you can wait it out, we should be getting some feedback from the February 18 inaugural sailing.  Personally, I would wait and then compare the ships, amenities and pricing.  Good luck!

I do agree that @memoak is right about no one seeing it first hand.  However, I would think the Sun Reserve Minis are going to blow all other Minis out the door.  Therefore, @stevenr597, if you are familiar with the Edge cabin you mention and existing PCL Minis, I imagine that will guide you in advance of hearing direct reports.

If I wanted to spend the bucks on a Reserve Mini, I'd be all over the new Sun.

The only problem that I found with the Reserve Mini on Sun Princess is that many of them are just for two passengers.  The Reserve Class Mini for 3 individuals or more are usually connecting cabins which I heard can be noisier.

Didn't know you were looking to place 3 in the cabin.  There is the sofa bed in all the rooms.  IDK how many cabins have extra berths.  Not something I have been shopping for.

And the obvious difference, on the Sun Princess you would have an actual balcony while Concierge or Aqua on an Edge class is just a window that opens.

Not just Concierge or Aqua.... the majority of cabins are IV.

Yes, of course, I specified since the OP indicated they were looking at Concierge or Aqua on Edge class, if they were considering Retreat on Edge class they would have a real balcony.

Apologies.  I ought to have looked back for the context.

Maybe I am wrong, but I had thought all the Mini Suites on their older classes such as Royal could accommodate at least 3 individuals.
