Splinter Posted February 20 #1 Share Posted February 20 I haven't sailed on HAL since before COVID. They used to offer a discount on cruises if you owned stock in their parent company (Carnival). Do they still offer this? I sold my stock during COVID. I already have a HAL cruise booked for December. If I buy the stock now can I get a discount on my final payment, or is it only good for the deposit?
dobiemom Posted February 20 #2 Share Posted February 20 (edited) Not a discount, you get OBC depending on the length of the cruise. Yes you can get your OBC if you buy stock now, but wait until after July 31 to submit. Edited February 20 by dobiemom
Cruise Suzy Posted February 20 #3 Share Posted February 20 There is no discount. However, you can receive OBC if you own at least 100 shares. The availability of OBC must be voted upon each year at the spring stockholders' meeting. The current offer does not extend to your December cruise. Rare kazu Posted February 20 #7 Share Posted February 20 17 minutes ago, Splinter said: What is OBC? On board credit. Money to use in on board purchases - specialty dining, spa, crew incentive, etc. 16 minutes ago, Splinter said: That link is no good. Why wait until July 31? Just google Carnival share holders benefits and you will find it soon enough. The Board of Carnival approves this benefit every year so you have to wait until the. Board meeting and it is passed again to extend into 2024 and early 2025. I think the board meeting is March / April each year - my memory may be short 😉 by the way, @dobiemom kindly posted the entire details for you if you had read it so the link wasn’t even necessary.
RuthC Posted February 20 #8 Share Posted February 20 16 minutes ago, Splinter said: What is OBC? On Board Credit. You get a set amount, based on number of days in your cruise, to be used on board the ship, for most expenses (casino is excluded). The amount goes from $50 up to $250. It takes a few seconds to appear. The current offer is only authorized for sailings thru July 31, 2024. I don't think you have to wait until after 31-July to apply -- just wait until after the Board meeting (after April), for cruises sailing after the 31st of July.
