When can dining reservations be made (Edge)

We have a deposit on an upcoming cruise (August). Can we make dining reservations before we make our final payment?

Are you referring to Specialty Restaurants?  Then the answer is 'YES' if you are using Celebrity OBC or if you are paying by credit card.  As for the MDRs, it is Anytime Dining.  Just show up to whatever dining room when you want to.

We found out the hard way that specialty dining books up fast.  By the time I went into cruise planner to book, about 3 months before sailing, we could only get an 8pm dining time in the steak house.  At this point there is nothing left in Eden.

So, you can’t make dining reservations for the different restaurants on the Edge class?    
I thought that we had done that before.   What if you have set dining, say at 6….how do you know which restaurant?

You just show up at the MDR of your choice whenever you want to eat.  Anytime Dining.

Pretty sure there is no such thing on E class.

Celebrity’s booking system has not caught up with the reality of the edge class.  They’re booking confirmation form still say “ early” and “late” dining on them.   It is confusing and baffling why they don’t fix it.  It has been years now !

We booked Beyond and "anytime dining" was full and only available was fixed at 8:30p. So it seems they do have fixed dining on this particular Edge class ship.

Thank you for this explanation. It seems like Celebrity is breeding confusion in so many areas. We sail in 2 weeks and are so excited but glad that we have researched and "studied up" beforehand.

“Seems” is the operative word—it is an illusion.  You have it on your booking but won’t when you get on board.

We experienced the same thing recently on the Ascent.  Once we were on board, however, we were able to find reasonable dining times at a couple of specialty restaurants.  We didn't get our preferred day, but by shifting our schedule to a different day were seated at 7:30.  You may need to be flexible once you're on board, and be sure to visit the restaurant reservations desk as soon as it opens on embarkation day.
