Shareholder benefits

I’m confused.  It says it cannot be combined with any other offer.  So, if you already have some obc, is it worthless?

I suggest that you go ahead and request it anyway, as soon as you have made the initial deposit.  I have never had it turned down.  I have "other offers" on most of my bookings, and also the shareholder benefit.  For some I have added the recent Black Friday offer after the shareholder benefit was in place, and the shareholder OBC did not go away.  I'm not sure if I could have added the shareholder benefit afterwards, because I have not tried that.

Where I have had difficulty is with the Amex OBC offer, which seems to be incompatible with other things more often than not:  consortium OBC offers (generally for the same amount), Regent offers, etc.  The Amex OBC will go away if you add an incompatible offer after the initial booking.

My TA arranged a special several thousand dollar savings on a cruise I had already booked. Price was some kind of special offered through a few agencies but not offered on the RSSC website or to the general public. I lost shareholder onboard credit, onboard booking benefit and Amex Platinum...total of about $800 in onboard credit. Probably first time I have boarded a ship with zero onboard credit. Savings on cruise fare was so good I did not care.

The shareholder OBC does not conflict with Amex.  Some of Regent's special offers do, though.  I think I lost an Amex credit with the Black Friday special.  Often my TA's consortium offers an OBC in the same amount as the Amex, and I can have one or the other, but not both.

Oddly I booked on the Grandeur under the Black Friday Sale in Nov and got the $1k in OBC, plus my TA got me the $300 AMEX OBC.  I'd love to apply for the shareholder OBC too but am I bit afraid I'll lose one or both of the above.   First time on Regent so I've no context here.

  • 1 month later...

We are now zero for four with Shareholder OBC on Regent.  One in 2022, two in 2023 and as of yesterday, another rejection for our Sept 2024 cruise.  All rejections referencing a special promotion or discount making it ineligible.  When asked what discount disqualifies the benefit, they were unhelpful and could not provide anything definitive. I don't think we've ever booked a cruise that didn't have some kind of sale or discount, and doubt we ever will. Disappointing.

We've done a few more cruises and never had a rejection on their sister line, Oceania.  We've heard similar success from people cruising Norwegian, so Regent is the lone holdout in the NCL group.

I have never been turned down because of a promotional conflict. My biggest issue is my own mistakes, last several times on both NCL and Regent I attached an outdated shareholder document.   First time, I did not know that they needed the "current" statement.  Last couple times I had my personal "senior moment" and grabbed an older statement.   I now have a checklist,  ask my financial to send me a current statement, scan it, attach it and once I get the acknowledgement, I delete it.   Guess I need bullet proof shoes to stop shooting myself in the foot.

I read that you have to give NCL about 15 days to be able to process your request.  When we bought our shares it was through our financial advisor and it was actually 2 days later that we had "officially" owned  the stock.   This may not be the normal delay as my request was late in the day and I was in no immediate hurry.

After we confirmed our purchase and got the shareholders proof of ownership,  I scanned in the completed request form, scanned in a sanitized shareholder document (they tell you to mark out the account #) .  Our experience is that they take about 5-7 working days to see it on my account, but could be longer.

This is the link to the benefits page.

Bottom line is I think that if your cruise is later in July, then you have a very good chance of getting this if you move soon.

Hope this helps

How does the Amex OBC post on your account?

We currently have OCEAN FTR credit, Regent Select and Signature Travel Network credit.

Are any of these from Amex?

Does anyone know if these conflict with Stockholder credit?

Our Amex credit is shown as " AMEX Platinum Shipboard Credit  ".

You only get the Amex credit if you have the Platinum card (but can use any Amex card, as long as you also have the Platinum -- I usually use my Green card to get 3 points/dollar for travel) and also  you must book through a TA that is connected with their system.  So probably you should direct this question to your TA.  I think (not certain) that if you book directly with Regent, you will not be eligible for the Amex credit, unless you book onboard and then transfer the booking to your TA who is in their system.

According to my TA, she usually cannot give me both the Amex credit and also the credit from her "consortia" (not sure which one), so I have to choose one or the other.

So far I have not had any incompatibility issues with the shareholder credit.  🤞

You can get the Amex credit without having a Platinum card...sometimes you only have to ask for it. 😉

First time on Regent, but my TA was able to get me the AMEX $300, which was posted to my RSSC account within a few days.  It was in addition to the $1k Black Friday OBC offered by Regent as well as in addition to the 'TA discount' she was able to give me.  I'd call that a pretty good deal so far....but I'm tempted to try to get that shareholder OBC too.....I just don't want to jeopardize what I've already got.

We have gotten the shareholder benefit on all of our cruises regardless of our existing offer (on board, earlybird, etc.)

So I bought the NCLH stock this morning.

The benefits request form says to send in a current brokerage statement with the form.

Do I have to wait until our monthly statement comes in the mail or will a screen shot of our current holdings work?

Or, do I need to call Regent to verify what to send in?

Thanks!

Screenshot it - cross out your account info and $$$ - just show your name and ownership of 100+ shares. If it is eligible, you will get the credit in 1 - 2  days.
