Crusin-Suzan Posted April 13 #1 Share Posted April 13 Booked 8190 on this class! It’s below lido! We always get aft but never on the 8th! Smoking is just above! Can you smell the smoke? Is it noisy! Thanks
Rare 0106 Posted April 13 #2 Share Posted April 13 Deck 8 aft cabins are my favorite because of the quick access to the Seaview pool and the Lido. They set the chairs up in the morning, usually after I am awake and take them down in the evening, usually when I am at dinner. That is the only time I have heard any noise. I have never smelled smoke; you are on the port side, smoking is on the starboard side. Enjoy your cruise!
RuthC Posted April 13 #3 Share Posted April 13 Your cabin is on the port side. At least on the Nieuw Statendam, the smoking area is on starboard. I don't see how smoke could both cross over the entire Sea View area, AND drop down one deck to your balcony. 3

nanlaur Posted April 13 #8 Share Posted April 13 We were on the Nieuw Statendam in February in an aft balcony on the port side, deck 6. We could smell smoke sometimes when in port, but I don't recall smelling it while underway.

No issues with smoke. 1
Rare terrydtx Posted April 13 #12 Share Posted April 13 (edited) We had the same location on the Koingsdam last November and loved the location. Never noticed any smoke and noise was never to the level to be bothersome. I would book the same cabin again. The only smoking issue we had on the ship was from the casino which was so bad we never could enter the casino and the stairwell next to it. jeh10641 Posted April 13 #13 Share Posted April 13 I have been warned countless times through cruise bloggers not to book under any pool deck or music venues or casinos because of the potential for "noises". Ditto smoking areas. I usually book on midship, lower deck, inside cabins. On the last cruise and next cruise, we have moved to forward facing cabins on deck 8 and deck 7. We are both in our 80s and mostly mobile, without artificial assistance devices. We do not care how close we are to dining venues or activity centers. The exercise helps us to enjoy more HAL food than otherwise. Jim

We got the aft as a Club Orange upgrade so we often took the scenic route to dining venues 😄 1
LetItSnow Posted April 13 #15 Share Posted April 13 We were on Rotterdam, a Pinnacle ship, on an aft facing balcony (8201) right under the seaview pool. If I could, I'd book it again but, alas, it wasn't available for my next sailing in November., I did hear the chairs getting dragged around in the morning but it was hardly a disturbance. They seem to do it quickly. I never smelled smoke and I sat on the verandah every day. I wish I was there right now! 3
