Ft. Lauderdale Resorts

We always stay at Renaissance on 17th St for two days before our cruise but we will be going down 3 days early(much better flight pricing) and would like recommendations for a resort-type hotel on the beach for the first night. Have seen some hotels in Ft. Lauderdale Beach but they seem so isolated(which is good if all you want to do enjoy the beach).  I imagine that one night will be expensive but...

 

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Lago Mar and the Pelican Grand are often mentioned (I'm a local so haven't stayed in either).  They are right on the beach unlike many of the pricey hotels on Fort Lauderdale beach that are across the street (A1A) from the beach.

I love the Sonesta on FLL Beach, and we usually stay here before a cruise, whether cruising out of FLL or MIA.  We enjoy it so much, we stay even for land vacations.  Primantis pizza is around the corner.....open 24/7, and the Parrot Bar is in back of the hotel.  There are also other restaurants within an easy walk, too.  It is on the corner of A1A and Sunrise Boulevard.  You won't be disappointed.  Check out the reviews.
