kelkel2 Posted May 15 #1 Share Posted May 15 Can you tell me about the nightlife on the ships? we’re not looking for a ship that closes up shop at midnight. We’re looking for a ship that has an active nightlife and possibly a dance club open until late into the morning. Does Celebrity have that? We’re looking at a 4 night in January on the Silhouette if that makes a difference.
Rare Galaxy2004 Posted May 15 #2 Share Posted May 15 Celebrity does not have much night life after 11 and certainly not late into the morning. Edge series are becoming a bit more active later in the evening, but by midnight almost everyone is all tucked in.
Rare PTC DAWG Posted May 15 #3 Share Posted May 15 (edited) I’ll differ a little here, I have been out past midnight many a night on Celebrity..almost always a DJ somewhere playing tunes starting at 11:30 PM or so..I would think the 4 day cruises would be a little livelier than 7-10 day ones. By 1 AM things are slowing way down for sure..I have been in the casino when they closed…as late as 2 am or so for table games.. They also do a good job with the silent disco events from my recollection.. Edited May 15 by PTC DAWG

Celebrity might not be what we’re looking for this trip.
Ex-Airbalancer Posted May 15 #5 Share Posted May 15 (edited) A 4 nighter is more of a booze cruise for celebrity so there something happening later a night no kids , short cruise in Caribbean, look at Virgin Edited May 15 by Ex-Airbalancer
jelayne Posted May 15 #6 Share Posted May 15 No partying til 3 a.m., grabbing some pizza before calling it a night on Celebrity. Late night pizza closes at 1.

Celebrity might not be what we’re looking for this trip. If it's a cruise without your children, are you wanting a cruiseline that won't have a lot of children on it? If so, Celebrity will be great. However, it does not have near the nightlife of Carnival. The Edge class may have more activity and the short cruises do tend to attract more of the weekend party crowd but not sure you'll be able to stay in a club dancing until 3:00 am or anything like that. They do give you $600 OBC for drinks , and the drinks are cheaper than Celebrity, from what people have written

One thing to keep in mind with Virgin is that they price their drinks lower than most cruiselines and quite often you can find deals with them that include some onboard money for drinks. I would do a little research on Virgin for what you are looking for.
Rare Tyler414 Posted May 15 #11 Share Posted May 15 As others have mentioned Virgin may be a better option.
Travelling2Some Posted May 15 #12 Share Posted May 15 I agree with those recommending Virgin and Carnival for maximum late night party. However, NCL has very reasonable drink packages. While they are not quite Free" as advertised, you pay only the gratuities and the real cost amounts to about $20 a person per day. You may want to consider NCL's shorter Caribbean or Mexican Riviera cruises. Passengers are younger and less interested in the ports on those itineraries so they stay up later. It fits with exactly what you're looking for. Please don't let the absence of drink packages deter you from considering Virgin. TBH that's really, REALLY foolish. Virgin's nightlife beats Carnival and their Scarlet Night deck parties are the best deck party of ANY cruiseline. No kids, excellent food, fun and unusual entertainment. Seems like it's a perfect fit for you. Video from Scarlet Night when I was on the Valiant Lady. PXL_20230120_040423544.TS (4).mp4
Jeremiah1212 Posted May 15 #14 Share Posted May 15 I've been on many 7 night cruises were after midnight the late night spot was either Sky Lounge or The Club and there are less than 20 people there. I haven't done a 3-4 nighter in probably 6 years but despite people here calling them booze cruises, I doubt they are that much different.

I was on the flagship Ascent in January and although the nightlife was vastly improved as compared to previous Celebrity cruises it's not in the same league as Carnival or Virgin. Here's the DECK PARTY on the Celebrity Ascent in January vs A POOL PARTY on Virgin Scarlett Lady. Look at all the ADULTS of all ages and types having fun at a Vegas level pool party!( This is from my July '22 sailing to demonstrate that Virgin's pool parties are that fun on all Caribbean sailings!) I agree with this take.. and re Virgin comments, I’m not sold on Virgin for two reasons, one is the drink package…I’m not sure if they are still offering $600 OBC or not, but if that’s just for the cabin, I doubt it would be enough, and when I price them it seems high per night to me..I understand the base rooms have some of the smallest bathrooms at sea.. My Wife doesn’t think she would like the constant in your face innuendos…IYKWIM. choices are good.. Edited May 15 by PTC DAWG

Is the Ascent deck party more to your liking or a pass on that too? That's OK too,and the beauty of a cruise holiday. For the record I'll be 63 in October and growing up in the suburbs of Manhattan went to the Discos that defined the '70s era. I moved into Manhattan after Uni and continued enjoying the dance clubs of the '80s-'90s. While I no longer go 'clubbing' as such, the availability of a Virgin Pool party allows me to indulge in the fun, and then I can go home after the cruise and after dinner on Sat night be in bed with my spouse and sleeping before Sat Night Live come on the TV, lol. Did you have fake ID to get into clubs in ‘70’s , since in the US you need to 21 to drink , and you would been 21 in 1982 ,😁 in Ontario , we could drink when we were 18 By time I was 24 , we had 4 kids so definitely different lifestyle 😉

It didn't change until the '80s in order for States to get Federal highway funds. Having said that bars and discos in Manhattan never checked ID. I was going to bars and dance clubs when I was 17. I never told my parents I was driving 1 hour into Manhattan. In my senior year of high school('79) I took my sister, who was 14 at the time, into Manhattan and into the top dance clubs. Mind you, this is when we had a 1am curfew,so we literally have just under 2 hours to dance, and had to leave when the clubs were just getting crowded,to make it home just past curfew. For the record,it was never about drinking alcohol and all about disco dancing! Edited May 15 by kwokpot 2
r2h2 Posted May 15 #24 Share Posted May 15 Drinking age varied by state but most states were 18 years or older from 1983 back. In 1984, drinking age turned to 21 in all the states.
