Assuming you're referring to the big agency's 3 Day Sale on Princess trips, our TA with that agency tells us it's coming June 6-8

Just saw a poster for the 3 Day Sale.  It is for Princess Plus bookings.  It gives up to $1200 OBC, “reduced” non-refundable deposits  and a coupon book.

Fine print says maximum $20 OBC per day per passenger for Interior and Ocean View to a maximum of $400.  $30 OBC per day per passenger for Balcony and above to a maximum of $600.

It's new bookings only. You would need to cancel and rebook.

Hmmm, on a 10 day sailing that OBC would cover the cost of the Plus package for two (I know I'm over simplifying).   I would rather they kept the OBC $1200 and gave me Plus.

I'm not sure you would get $1200 on a 10 day!

Thanks.  I knew I was over simplifying.   So, $30/day x two is $600 for a 10 day cruise.   If I have to pay for the plus fare to qualify, and then have all the stuff included with the Plus fare, it becomes much less meaningful.  Unless I can cash it out.  I wonder how many would prefer they simply discount the  Plus fare by that amount.

Yup! I agree 100%....

 

If I have Plus, what do I have to spend that credit on? Maybe an excursion but I'm betting you won't get that credit until you are on the ship...by which time most of the excursions would be full! It's a good buy if you were already getting Plus but not so great if you weren't!

 

On another note, I'm "jumping ship" again in August as my teens want to try one of the "Mammoth of the Seas" ships. I haven't been silent about my disenchantment with Princess recently, and my dislike of the packages forcing you to pay for what was otherwise included, BUT now that I'm on this other line (with all the extras as truly extra rather than bundled) I'm starting to change my mind! When I'm wrong, I say I'm wrong...

A paltry #30.00 (or, however much) on a cruise that has gone up $1,000.   Really?

'Disenchanted' is not the word that I have in mind for Princess corporate right now.

Help- use my example:

 

standard for 2 adults $3402 CAD

 

plus for 2 adults $5832 CAD

 

BW category $30US/ day pp / 15 days

$1226 CAD OBC. ($900 US)

 

Assuming the present fare does not increase for the sale, is this worth it?

 

We would spend OBC in spa, casino, Specialty restaurants.

The Plus Package is a waste of money, so I'm much happier with the OBC.

Standard adding wifi for 1 & grats for 2 adults is now:

$4554 CAD

vs

$5832 CAD for PLUS with $1226 CAD OBC
