"Not the only one" is not a good defense for not paying attention to the rules and processes. You are in a marginalized group of cruisers - certainly not representative of the majority. The cruise line is not in the wrong. They openly publicise the policy and cannot be held accountable for the few that don't bother to read the policy and complain after the fact. The cruise line has no obligation to make an exception to their policy to accommodate cruisers that are to busy to read what the program is and how it works. As far as i can see you have paeticipated in this stream, but have not posted in it that you have experienced an example of the cruise line taking refundable first. That would make 2. Wishing on a star Posted August 28 #79 Share Posted August 28 We are all just trying to figure out what is going on, with (more than one, if not several) reports having issues with OBC. People being told, 'policy', 'computer problem' (glitch) and any other myriad of responses. Judgment has absolutely no place here. I will be following this when I finally get onboard, after quite some time since our last cruise. Or, I should say, my husband will. He has worked for the government with the incredible level of paperwork reporting and management of every dollar. He has become very good at this kind of thing. If there are any questions, discrepancies, or issues accounting for onboard expenses or credits that are to be refunded... we will not want to leave it unaddressed. 1

Wasn't sure what we were doing so ended up cashing out the $40 without playing the slot. Guy at the casino window gave them the $40 but said they were locked out and automatically banned. didn't ask if the ban was forever or just that cruise.

I usually take $100 at a time out and play $5 on the slots. Cashing in whatever is left. Sometimes I get $95 and other times more. Onetime I got almost $300! Never been locked out or banned! We have "Beat the Dead Horse to Death"! We need to move on and learn from our mistakes. I still recommend the Casino option to cash out leftover OBC. Put $100 on your account and play $5 on the Slots. Cash out whatever you have at the end -- never less than $95 sometimes more than $100... I don't mind giving the cruise line $5 of the Free Money they provided to me!

Individual issues with OBC refunds for a variety of reasons, Yes. Change in policy concerning order i which non refundable and refundable obc is charged - No Each one seem to be pretty unique. Skiah Posted August 29 #84 Share Posted August 29 We just got off the Sun Princess Aug 24. We had a large amount of refundable OBC from a Move Over offer. I checked the folio regularly to see what type of OBC was used for our charges. All charges were non-refundable OBC, no refundable OBC was used. We are happily awaiting a nice check from Princess. 😁 Murf

I already have premium and a couple shore excursions paid. Not sure what I would spend the OBC on - are people now saying that it will be non-refundable? So I would need to do the casino thing which I have never done as I've never had to worry about refundable OBC coming back to me. My rec would be to find a new TA that gives a cash discount off the fare instead of rebating it back as OBC.
latebloomer56 Posted August 29 #87 Share Posted August 29 Went into our booking to check on some OBC from our credit card points. It states to be use on our cruise and will lose any left at completion of this voyage. This was not the case two years ago, but that's ok I will not use any cash in the casino just OBC. Thanks for this post OP because I wouldn't have read the description of this OBC had I not seen this.
Cruisemeister2002 Posted August 29 #88 Share Posted August 29 Whilst I must admit that I am not the seasoned cruiser that many of you are on this forum having completed 17 cruises so far. I have never been in credit on any of these cruises and do not expect in the future, God willing, that I will ever have OBC left whether refundable or non refundable. Most will have a few minutes if not every day, every few days to check their situation regarding their onboard spend. Truthfully I am unfamiliar with refundable OBC and how one get's it and can see if someone is on a short cruise if they have taken out a Plus or Premium package that given most of the food and most of the drinks won't mean using OBC that it might be difficult to spend. But I can assure you I'd have a damned good try.
dreaminofcruisin Posted August 29 #89 Share Posted August 29 On a cruise in July. Had both non-refundable and refundable credits. I made sure to use up the amount of the non-refundable. Princess sent me a check for the balance of the refundable. No problems. Princess used the non-refundable first as usual. Sorry to hear others have had issues.

Last year on NCL, I checked my folio mid-afternoon on Day 1 and saw several bar charges. Was definitely an error because I didn't visit a bar that day nor the balance of the cruise. GS said they would have to investigate but by the next day, charges were removed.
