We're thinking Portsmouth or Isle of Wight. We can take the train to Portsmouth or the Red Jet to IOW. IOW looks nice, but it seems you need a car there to get to see the interesting things. Any suggestions? We did a tour to Stonehenge on Turn-around day. Royal set it up for B2B cruisers, a 3-4 hour excursion for around $189 per person. I really enjoyed it because Stonehenge was on my bucket list. On the way, the driver did a little detour because of traffic, and we drove through the National Forest and saw the free-roaming ponies/horses.

Rare mil76 Posted June 13 Author #204 Share Posted June 13 Just awful outside. Captain just announced we are doing another medical evacuation, this time for a passenger. Helicopter will be here within an hour. Still expects to be in Southampton by 6:00am.

I really want to get some pictures of me riding with the fjords in the background. If you do make it to the Flowrider, I'll be the guy in the black Cozumel shirt.

pilotboy1985 Posted June 13 #214 Share Posted June 13 As you've probably already seen by now, we got a last minute itinerary change for our Norwegian Fjords Cruise and we will now be calling on Bergen, Norway on Sunday. I'm super excited about that.

cruisegirl1 Posted June 13 #217 Share Posted June 13 First time in Bergen (unexpectedly, of course.) I generally use private tours companies. Those who have been to Bergen in the past, can you suggest a type of excursion that is typical for this port? thanks. m

There will be a queue at the station. It's a short walk from the port. https://floyen.no/en

Portside wins the most important view lottery of the trip! "Portside wins the most important view lottery of the trip" ..... have to disagree with you there - the sail out at midnight was stunning from our balcony with views of Lisbon all lit up! Enjoying reading this as we were on the cruise and will definitely be reading the next part of your travels as we have booked the Norwegian Fjords for next June on the Indy.
Rare mil76 Posted June 14 Author #221 Share Posted June 14 At about 8:00am we headed to the MDR, scanned out our old sea pass, walked a few feet to another station where we got our new sea pass, then went to another station where they scanned in on the new sea pass. Much easier than having to go through the terminal. By 9:00am the queue to leave the ship was gone.

Rare mil76 Posted June 14 Author #223 Share Posted June 14 Since the queue had subsided, we left the ship and took the train to Portsmouth. Once we got to Portsmouth we realized that all the maritime attractions are combined into one admission, and it is about 40 quid per person. Since we were only going to spend a little over 2 hours in Portsmouth, we figured it wasn't worth it, so we just headed to the outlet mall next to the train station. FW found not one but two purses at one of the stores, so she was a happy camper. Went to Five Guys for lunch, so I was a happy camper. Took the 13:23 train back to Southampton since we didn't want to cut it too close on time. On the way back from the station to the ship we stopped at JD Sports and I got myself prepared to watch the European Championships on the ship this week. This ended up being the most expensive excursion of the whole trip! 7
Rare mil76 Posted June 14 Author #224 Share Posted June 14 Finally sailed at about 5pm. Heard lots of announcements for muster laggards, so that probably had something to do with it. Britannia is still in dock, but Princess left before us.
